Contacts won't sync to FB >.<

Yeah a few people online wre saying it's due to it being removed from android so Facebook had no choice but I don't really know if that's true
oh my gosh....I just got it to work!! I went into settings and apps and cleared everything from facebook and messenger apps...then i uninstalled all updates and then without updating at all I went into facebook and redid all my settings, then checked them all again for the 153637 time in messenger and my phone and omg i almost fell over....it worked. I have a Note 5 that I just got this week. I really hope when i update facebook they dont dissapear. Now I need to find out how to save all the contacts to my phone so they will save when i backup my phone!

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS allyson615 !
Glad you found success w/your f/b contacts syncing.
I don't f/b,but just throwing this out there:
Can you not sync your f/b contacts w/your Google account,in the phone/dialer/contacts app?
Or,am I missing something here?
I usually refrain from posting/asking questions regarding f/b since I don't use it,but, the topic seems to keep popping up & I'm trying to get a grasp on the issue & possibly offer some solutions,or,most likely steer others toward a better resource than yours truly.

No, you cannot/could not backup your synced FB contacts via Google.

Hello all. So I was finally able to fix my problem after many hours of trouble shooting!! I was issued a replacement phone and transferred my sim car to replacement Note 4. All apps began downloading and when facebook finished the feature was there but not syncing. Also, inside the facebook app in settings, there used to be a column which you can add all contacts or similar only. That was no longer available. After many trial and errors, what worked for me on my phone was to go to:
Settings->Applications->Application Manager->Scroll down to Facebook App->Uninstall Updates

after that I went back to the app on my phone and clicked it and I had to re-enter my credentials and it was able to sync my contacts. I did forget that my settings allow my apps to automatically download when on wi-fi so when I just got home, the app updated itself. I am currently running FB version 51.0.0.14.10 and the feature is no longer their but my contacts have already from the former version...Hope this may help some others!

I must be the only one who doesn't want FB contacts on my phone. I cant see the point in an additional 1700 people who were only friends due to FB games on my phone. What am I missing?
I don't need to be that tied to Facebook.........
They have enough of my personal information, they don't need my friends as well. I don't NEED a contact picture for every contact as well. I know what they look like so I don't need a reminder lol

first off I would personally never have 1700 people on my FB page. Secondly I did embellish a bit when I said 500. I keep a strict limit to 300 friends on there. Because I only keep people that I care to stay in touch with and not just add people to add people I want to have their contact info as well like a phone number. I talk to most of my FB friends on the phone every so often. If I don't want to actually talk to them then why would I want to have them on my page? Anyway, it would be nice regardless. The discussion of people overpopulating their FB accounts is for another day.

Not sure what overpopulation has to do with anything. The # of FB friends someone has will always differ. Those I interact with I already have their contact info so no need to sync with FB.

The 1st time that happened to me, I panicked wondering how the hell I had all these people on my phone- back then the "contact link" was buried making it difficult to undo right away. IIRC it was set like that by default.

I find it kind of silly that FB and Google don't work together to just create a checklist for sync and call it a day.

GOT IT!!! Uninstall the update of the current Facebook app through application manager. Go back and login into the older version of Facebook. Then go to Menu in the FACEBOOK APP > App Settings > Continuous Contact Sync and Boom! They will sync...The new Facebook update messed everything up. Let me know if this works for you

Worked for me but now I'm afraid to update FB. I saved my contacts to my SD card so I hope that helps if I lose everything again once FB updates.

Go to your Google Play Store app > Settings > & turn off automatic updates for your apps.
You'll still receive notifications for when there is an update available for any & all of your apps, but, you'll have total control of which apps you want to update & those that you wish to leave on their current revision.

I don't fb,but, you might wanna check for similar settings within the fb app, just in case it has the ability to auto update/override the Google Play Store app settings.
(Most apps don't have this capability, but,I wouldn't put such garbage past the folks @ fb).

So I deleted fb abs tried to go and find the older version in the google play store but could not find it. Typed in "old version of FB" and only the new version came up. Help

The fb app is pre-installed,go to Menu>Settings>Apps,go to the fb app.
You should see the option to either disable or,uninstall updates.

If that doesn't get you far back enough,side-load an older version from here,it's known to be a safe provider of hard-to-get/legacy versions of apps:
