Help power-down a broken Nexus 4?

Greetings, this is almost an emergency. I dropped a Nexus 4 and the display has serious cracks; it is broken. I have a Nexus 5 for a transplant of the SIM card. The power-off can be displayed but does not respond when touched.

Currently, the battery is fully charged, and I'd like to power-down now instead of waiting for a battery drain.

Is there a way to power-off the Nexus 4 so that I can remove the SIM card, or is it ok to hot-remove the SIM?

Thanks.

If you press and hold the power button for a long while (~10+ seconds) it should reboot the phone. Press and hold the Volume-Down button at the same time to boot into Fastboot mode. You can then use the volume buttons to scroll down through the options - I think the last one is "Power Off". You can select that with the Power button.

I think. I'm going from memory here. :D
