Hello,

I've had the G4 for several months now and I love it. However, I'm having an issue that I have never experienced before on other phones. Emails (seems to be regardless of which app is used) will cut off characters when I'm trying to forward certain emails, send long emails, send log files via email, etc. I finally decided to try to get help when simply forwarding an.email from Amazon to my husband completely failed tonight. Thus isn't an issue that I could have known before buying and I can't figure it out. My previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and as recently as the past week or so could send emails that failed on the G4. I've tried the Gmail, Inbox, Boxer Pro, CloudMagic, Outlook, Blue Mail, MailWise, Type Mail, Aqua, and Mailbox to name several. I'm having this issue with all of them and didn't have the issue on the Note 3. Both are running Lollipop although the G4 upgraded to 5.1, but I can't see that making the difference.

Any ideas why this could be happening and what to do about it? I'd appreciate any ideas, help, thoughts and advice. Thanks so much.

So, as I understand it, in the last week or so both the G4 and the G3 fail with certain - but not all - emails. But up until the last week or so the G3 was still sending emails that failed on the G4. Correct?

Does it make any difference if you're using WiFi or mobile data?

Does it matter who you're sending email to?

Will these certain emails always fail or only sometimes fail?

Have you contacted your service provider about this?

Thanks so much for responding. I'll do my best to answer and clarify the situation.

Email provider is Gmail.

The Note 3 never had the issue even on the same emails.

The G4 seems to have always had the issue *if* the email is long enough. I just didn't realize the issue existed until after the return period...although I would prefer to fix it either way as I otherwise love my G4.

It makes no difference who the recipient is.

The emails that have issues, always have issues on the G4. The same emails are fine on the Note 3.

Let me say, most of the time, it's not a problem. Short emails have never had the issue. But when it happens, it's extremely frustrating and I cannot figure out a way around it.

It doesn't seem to make any difference whether in on WiFi or 4G. In fact, the problem appears before I ever get to press send as I run up on this elusive "character limit" before while composing emails. It appears to have to do with the message length and certain messages that I try to forward, etc will cut off the end of the email and I can't add even a single character to it. I had no issues on the very same emails on the Note 3.

This problem is not isolated to the Gmail app but also occurs whether I'm using Gmail, Inbox, CloudMagic, Outlook, MailWise, Boxer Pro, Aqua, Blue Nail, Type Mail, etc.

I've not contacted Gmail for a couple of reasons. The first being I'm not sure if they even have Gmail support. The second being that if the Note 3 was fine on the same emails, then the issue must be with the G4. I can't think of another scenario that fits my experiences.

Thanks so much once again for responding. I really appreciate you taking the time to write and also to help me clarify the situation a but more. Really hoping for some help with this! Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

Wow...thanks for the detailed response. I needed some clarification and you provided it.
The only thing that's not clear is what the heck the problem is. This is an odd one...
It's not Gmail. You say it happens before you even hit send.
It not your connection for the same reason as above.
It's not the email app. You tried a bunch with the same result.
It happens on the G4 only, never the G3.
Simple logic says it must be a glitch in the editor on the G4. I didn't think all the email clients tried would use the G4's editor and not their own, but maybe they do.

Anyway, I'm stumped. Maybe try a factory reset. Contact the manufacturer. I dunno. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
