I have an S3 (Gti9300) rooted and with TWRP recovery installed, with nandroid backup done.
When I go into recovery, select TWRP , it only shows what is on the internal memory. My new rom and GAPPS is on the EXT SD card, and won't show.
Am I right in thinking that if I wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, and dalvik cache, it will wipe whatever is in internal memory and no rom or anything else will be available to flash.??
So how can I see the EXT SD card in twrp.??
The ext sd card has been wiped, coming from my NOTE 4.
Or has the ext card got to be mounted? I can see ext sd in the MOUNT button in TWRP screen.
I rooted my original S£ and can't remember having this trouble. (Omnirom V5 KK4.4.4)
I want to get advice before carrying on and naffing it all up.
Thanks

There are certain versions of TW RP that will not show your external sd card two things you will either need to try different versions to find out which one will work or plug your phone into the computer and transfer your backup from external to internal and then you can do your restore.

I used TWRP 2.8.6.1- the latest one.
How would I remove that latest version to go for earlier one- ( I used twrp 2.6 on my first S3 ), please ??
Or just try it again ?
Just looked on my pc for the Nandroid backup files for this phone, and it shows 2.4 GB -15 files.
You can use TWRP manager from play store and choose the one you want.

Hi,
Got TWRP manager on phone.
On Install Manager page there is; Device Name (GTi9300)-----Recovery Installed-Custom recovery not installed or detected,
Recovery version to install-twrp 2.8.6.1 i9300.img---
I don't want an .img file, do I--should it not be a .tar file surely. When I have tapped install .img recovery, all I got was pages of gobbledegook
When I look for correct phone, twrp keeps throwing an img file at me. Perhaps it's Windows 10 having a laugh at me, lol.
I used TWRP because it seemed easy last time- perhaps Philz or CWM would be better- never used either before.
I rooted the phone with Kingo root- first time success, again.

If it wasn't so late, I would jack this in and go to the pub, lol.

Mine is a l710 but uses d2spr, and image is what you want, not sure what yours is. Tar is odin, the pub sounds good.

Hello Madbat- how are you ??
Thanks for the link to TWRP site- I will mark that up and take a look in morning- been out on the beer , so not wise to get into technical stuff this time of night-UK 11.32 PM, lol.
Lol. Doing great. Usually, in person, when someone asks how I'm doing my answer is always "best day of my life". Usually makes people smile. Confuses some, amuses others. The responses tell me a little about a person.
Get home safe
