So if not Note 5. What phone?

Oh man, if this is the Mate 8...I'm sold. I just wish I wasn't so back and forth testing T-Mobile. Been reading mixed reactions with LA LTE signal and speeds, especially in the areas I most frequent (home and work), so it's hard to see how much better my experience would be over Sprint.

Regardless, I think I'll end up buying a Mate 8, even if I just use as a wifi device for now.

?...LOL...Where do you think the speaker is on the Note 3? I actually don't mind it at all. At the right angles, it actually is really loud. I've never been a complainer of speaker placement. Or, I should say, it's not a pet peeve of mine. The only phone I've had that I hated the speaker on was the original HTC Evo, which was my first venture into Android.
I'm more of a bluetooth headphones person, over actual phone speakers. I rarely, if ever, need "booming" speakers on my actual phone. I'd even connect to an external bluetooth speaker, before having a need for really loud speakers on the phone.

I've slept since then (Note3), didn't remember quite where speaker placement was. :paperbagdroid:
IIRC only had it six weeks & @ the time, used B/T almost exclusively for audio while @ work,as cell use was frowned upon unless work-related.

Anyhoo,I don't remember the bottom speaker being a PITA on the Note3,but,for me,on the Note5,it seems like it's easier to cover/muffle the speaker in landscape. To a lesser degree,on the V10,but,it still screams I NEED A FF Speaker for a phone touted as a media-centric device.

As for pure audio-only entertainment,I'm all-in for B/T.
While FF Speakers would be preferred,it's not as if I'm gonna "Jam Out",as ridiculously depicted in commercials/ads/etc.... the experience is not all that & a bag of chips.

Yeah!...I always laugh watching the HTC commercials and think to myself, "seriously? I don't know anybody in my office and I've never seen anyone going out in public, with their phone glaring/bumping music from the FF speakers." Majority of the time, it's people with wired headsets (which I'm also not big on anymore, cuz of my bluetooth addiction).

That said, there's only 1 bottom speaker on the Note 3, so I don't think the dual on the Huawei would be an issue for me. As long as it's loud enough for me to hear my ringtones or text notifications, that's fine. I have the cuff technique down still, so I don't think there'd be much adjustment with the Huawei.

Now, totally off topic, but forgot to mention a great deal I found on the Samsung Gear BT headsets:

Can't beat $19.99 ($5.00 for shipping to me in LA)

@onleaks posted the supposed dimensions:

#Huawei #Mate8 (Roughly 157.4x80.7x8.4mm)

For comparison sake, the LG V10 159.6X79.3X8.6mm

Dimensions are pretty close to the Mate 7 , except slightly taller/thicker, but also slightly less wide.
157 x 81 x 7.9 mm

Shorter than Nexus 6p, but wider and thicker (and sporting a bigger screen and battery)
159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm

Yeah,I don't see a scenario where both speakers would be entirely covered/muffled in landscape or portrait.
Should be a nice device if most rumored specs pan out.
As for the Endangered Species list (removable battery/expandable storage),the options are approaching (if not already) the single digit figures.
Hope this is speculation & if not, contained, to the G5, & the next in LG's V Series is spared:

Geez...LG not getting the concept of offering what the other guys no longer have. They're not going to catch Samsung anytime soon, so why go in the same exact direction? And Samsung hasn't exactly been maintaining the level of sales that they once were last year or even 2 years ago, when they gained the #1 spot over Apple.

Nonetheless, my business will continue to go to the company that offers me the phone that suits my needs, even if it becomes a rare breed. It'll be like the days when I had my Photon, right KOLIO?...LOL.

Only thing I was missing on that phone was more internal storage and ram. I didn't even mind the way the internal storage was partitioned.

That said, I am past the timeframe that I held onto that phone, with the Note 3. Despite the signs of old age, the phone is still serving me very well overall.

The more images and vids I see of the v10, the more I wish it had been offered for Sprint. Especially because of 64 internal w/ micro sd.
I'm really disappointed in Sprint for not getting the V10. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm not up for an upgrade until July, but I might have paid full price for this phone. My wife has G4. It is a really good phone. The camera is as good, if not better than my Note 4. The options on the V10 for video make it worth an upgrade. Hopefully next year Sprint will get the next edition of the V10. I'll hold on to my Note 4 until then.

Now that the Huawei Mate 8 has been announced, I'm likely going to be picking one of those up. I just have to test out T-mobile, which I may do the trial plan they have. If the Lte booster they offer works as well as has been mentioned, then I'm going to take advantage of the $200 they are offering to Sprint customers moving over without any trade in.

Do you like the Huawei Mate 8 more than the V10? If you switch to T-Mobile, you could go ahead and get the V10.

Just read an article today guestimating the Mate8 will be available to NorthAmerica around MWC2016 time.
Not too far off, worth the wait if this is what you're set on.

With the jump program, do they require you to use a T-mobile phone or does the monthly fee you pay for the phone just come off the monthly bill?
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but,I'll take a stab:
With T-Mobile,you essentially get two separate bills, one for service, the other for your phone, unless you BYOD,which leaves you w/service only.

There's two different Jump programs:

The standard Jump & Jump-On-Demand,which the latter is a lease.
http://explore.t-mobile.com/phone-upgrades
http://explore.t-mobile.com/jump-on-demand-phone-upgrade
So,if you BYOD with the Huawei Mate8,Jump isn't even in the picture at all.

EDIT:
Another difference in Jump vs Jump-On-Demand:
Jump includes insurance against damage @ no extra cost.
Jump-On-Demand you pay for your own whether through T-Mobile or otherwise

Thanks, J. You pretty much answered my question. I was just wondering, if I decided to make the switch, if I could be on a Jump program before the Mate 8 is released and not be locked into paying a device. Based on your answer, I would do Jump lease.

I am getting closer and closer to making the switch. Once I get back from Vegas, I'll be visiting T-mobile to find out how I can do a test run.

The Jump-on-Demand is an 18 mo. lease & early cancellation requires all lease payments due at time of cancellation.
Not every device is eligible for Jump-On-Demand,this list was updated yesterday, though not entirely accurate,as my V10 is a JoD Device & is MIA from the list:

If you had multiple #'s you were going to port over, simply swapping SIM Cards between devices may not be possible,as the devices are SIM Locked until the financial/contractual obligations are met.Definitely wanna check that out beforehand, perhaps they have a method allowing SIMs on the same account to be interchangeable w/T-Mobile devices on a payment plan.
