My primary phone's have both been Samsung.

I've had my current S4 over two years...starting to get the upgrade itch.

But there are so many good unlocked options out there now for less money...My next phone won't be a Sammy.

Nexus 6 or 6p are looking good to me

Yeah those seem like real good deals. I haven't had an S series phone but I do seem to like Samsungs. Each S that comes out tempts me more and more.

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 6S+, but I am considering exchanging it for a Note 5 or Edge 6+. It feels sort of cool to be back using iOS, but I miss Android's customization via rooting. I have until Friday to make up my mind.

My wife still has her S4. I switched to the S5 because my S4 had some real problems.

No plans on upgrading from note 4, but my first android was s2,mrs then got s3, I got s4, New she has 6 edge.

I loved my s4 and woulda kept it longer but I broke the screen and insurance replacement just had a few little annoyances!

Every Samsung Galaxy phone that I have owned, and every one that every friend has owned, has chewed through microSD cards like dogs chewing through hamburger meat.

The phones seem to destroy the microSD cards, making them unusable even in other devices. I have a stack of expensive microSD cards that no longer work after being used in Samsung Galaxy phones. None of the data is readable, so in addition to losing the card, I lost all the data, including the photographs and videos stored on them.

I like many Samsung products, but I am no longer buying their phones, and cannot recommend them.

I've had an S4 and now an S5. My wife has an S4. Only once in five years have I had a micro SD go bad. As it turned out, it was the card that was bad from the beginning. Perhaps your choice of cards has been the problem. My lesson was never to buy a cheap card.

That's what I thought at first. But every card has been a name-brand card. Mostly SanDisk microSD cards and some Samsung microSD cards. All purchased from major retailers like Costco and BestBuy. None from eBay (where counterfeit cards are reportedly common) or Amazon (where reviews state that customers have received counterfeit cards).

The Samsung Galaxy phones seem to have destroyed hundreds of dollars in brand new name brand microSD cards. I suppose it could be a massive coincidence, but the odds of that would be staggering.

I Only had one device "kill" an SD card. It was a SAMSUNG branded SD card in my Note 10.1 (2014). I put a noname brand card in it though and it hasn't missed a beat. SD Cards seem to be a bit hit and miss, even with name brands.
Samsung have gone the unibody approach with no SD card anyway with the S6 and no doubt S7 variants too. With OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox, and any number of other cloud storage solutions, SD are almost superfluous now anyway.

Original Galaxy S(busted screen), Grand Quattro Duos(sold) and currently have an S4 that was given to me, for trying ROMs out, but don't use it as a daily driver phone. Unlikely to be buying S7, I'm not that rich...$$$$ ...can't really justify equivalent of $1,000 for a phone, based on current Samsung flagship device pricing here.

I've had the S3 for a lot. but I refuse to pay premium phone pricing for a phone without a removable battery and SD slot. And Samsung's been lately taking away all the power user support that I had come to appreciate, such as the ability to downgrade.

I'm currently using the S6Edge and Note5. Both running lollipop, currently waiting on the release of Marshmallow! I think there are a lot of bugs ATM. That's why Samsung has no released the MM yet... SO EAGER!

Comsidering the iphone 6s is among the few to support all the bands for all the us carriers, i would say hang on to it, and maybe pick up something less expensive to start.

S5 or note 4 is about the latest from samsung I could recommend, considering they retain options for extended battery and microsd storage.

This is my first Galaxy I can say I didn't care for the crap that came on it but rooting took care of those minor annoyances.

As far as another one I'm not sure yet. I am wanting the Nexus 6p but its not in a justifiable price range for my budget. I'll have to do some comparing.

SD cards "superfluous"? As someone who just spent a weekend with patchy internet, Dropbox and the like are entirely useless.

SD cards forever! And why does the poll have no "Had an S model, never again!" option, for us S6 owners?

I have had an S2, an S3 and now an S5. I've loved my Samsungs and will be eligible to upgrade in the next few months. What makes me so sad it that Samsung has taken away the removable battery and the SD card slot. I hope that's rectified with the S7. If not, I'll be shopping for phones and considering a number of brands - including even, gasp, the iPhone. Those two features were what really gave the Samsung the edge for me. Without them, the Samsung phones no longer have the extra edge. I care less about a fancy wrapped edge screen than the ability to change the battery when needed (seems frequently when traveling) and the ability to put my photos and files on the SD card.

I agree that having a microSD card slot and a removable battery is essential for any device these days: phones, tablets, and laptops.

Do people mind that Samsung has the hardware buttons reversed on their devices when compared to just about every other Android phone on the planet? When I pick up a friend's Samsung phone, I'm always annoyed. I think I actually like Samsung's layout more, but it is like BetaMax vs VHS: BetaMax was better, but the standard became VHS.

had a lot of phones over the years.... every make you can imagine.

settled on the Galaxy S Fascinate ( Verizon ) for my first smartphone.
never regretted that decision. skipped the next 3 models.
I have two S5s and a Note 4 which is essentially just a larger S5. There is no difference in functionality except it has the S Pen which does not get used.

I've had do many flagship phones and so many problems, including major issues with the Galaxy S4 which were so bad I was forced to change manufacturers. Now on Sony Z3 for about 18 months and haven't looked back. Best phone I've ever had.
