Help HTC Desire 610 WiFi won't turn on!

Hello, I have an HTC Desire 610 from AT&T. I got this phone from a friend and tried to turn the WiFi on, but it just turns off or never turns on. I have done a factory reset and still nothing. I'd love for this phone to use internet because it is a great phone, but the WiFi Button won't turn on. Please help!

Sincerely,
Gordon M-C

Hiya Gordon!
I've moved your thread into your device forum just in case someone with the same device can offer some help:)

Is the device activated with AT&T?
I'm not really familiar with the device, but are you trying to turn on wifi in the menu/settings/wifi? or from the dropdown notification panel?

Yes, it is with AT&T. But the weird thing is that once I reboot the phone enough it comes on and connects, but then when its on sleep mode, it cuts right off. There is no SIM card in the device, but that shouldn't affect the WiFi.

I know this is a late response… But as I was having the same issue with my stepson's HTC Desire 610 (which he uses for the Internet and game apps only and not as an actual phone) I scoured the Internet to find a solution. I was almost about to give up after a four hour troubleshooting expedition. What I ended up doing was reformatting the phone back to factory settings about 2 hours in (I'm only mentioning this because I'm not sure if it contributed to the resolution in the end or not.) Out of sheer curiosity, I took the SIM card out my iPhone 6 and put it into the HTC. This allowed me to connect through my provider data. I rebooted the phone by holding the power button and selecting the "Restart" option. After it was completely finish with the reboot, the phone began finding Wi-Fi networks. I connected it to my home network connection. Then I went back to the Wi-Fi settings to see what options were not available for selecting when the wifi was unresponsive. I found an option check marked for yes, which caused the phone to automatically disable the wi-Fi as soon as a Wi-Fi connection attempt failed. I unchecked the box, of course. I closed everything out and took out my SIM card. I then power cycled the phone again. When it was finished the phone was still connected to the Wi-Fi. Hope this helps!!!
