Xbox 1 vs PS4: Which would you choose?

Well I received my Xbox One on Tuesday so had a couple of days with it now, will give you a few of my thoughts OP hopefully this might help you make up your mind.

I bought the console with Fifa 14 and battlefield 4 bundled, got Forza 5 (special edition) and Lego Marvel Superheros. 12 months Xbox live, an extra pad and 2 plug and play charging packs.

I currently use a 360. This gen, I was leaning towards the PS4.

A few of the boys got together last week to christen his shiny new PS4 with a few games of Fifa and Killzone. There's no doubting it's nice, and the graphics are stunning, but the controller leaves a lot to be desired and is a potential deal breaker for me.

Pres my brother has the ps4 and the pad is nothing compared to the ones.. I've seen a few reviews marking it down due to it not having the battery built in but they have perfected an already pretty good pad.. the sony one tried to innovate with touchpads but the battery life is terrible on my brothers.. 1 day of heavy gaming.. no thanks.

Good news today addressing a few of my cons and a few I didn't list (party chat) apparently a fix is on its way and the UI will be getting a major update before Titanfall is released (march) I do wish they had done these things prior to launch though.

I would do a review on my x1 experience but i'm lazy and rather not :p
The controller of the x1 is wonderful(granted have not held a ps4 controller yet)

The UI on the xbox one is nice in a way. I am also frustrated they did not include a battery level indicator anywhere on the screen!

The party system is severely out of whack and i'm wondering when it will be addressed.

The out of memory error 5 is kind of a buzz kill when playing games.

When you leave a game on ghosts and try to join another one, it will 8 times out of 10 put you back in the same one unless you wait 1 minute.

The kinect will sometimes activate and go into listening mode when you dont even say xbox. That's annoying.

When another user walks into the room and they haven't played the game you are playing in a while, in the middle of the game it will begin syncing data and you cannot move or do anything until it is finished.

When trying to add a friend to xbox live you get no notification that you have a friend request. You have to install the xbox 360 app on your phone and then accept them, or log in to your 360 and accept it.

When you try to add a friend from ghosts it will hang and never send. In this case you need to hit the Xbox button(takes you home), then go back into the game and cancel the menu.

those are some of my complaints.

o and the stinking campers on call of duty ghosts. sitting in corners and behind walls should be left on Battlefield 3-4

@Voided i've had several of the same errors you listed. Especially the out of memory error...wtf is up with that?

Prior to TitanFall release in March is when the update is supposed to come out to fix some of the things. ESPECIALLY THE STUPID A** WAY YOU HAVE TO DO PARTY CHAT.

Xbox One's first big update will address 'the Live experience,' expect streaming before E3

i figured you did, you were the one to jinx me about that out of memory error, cause up until you said it i had no issues.
your fault!

i may get titanfall as well but just not sure yet.

Only really an issue if you're using an old CRT set isn't it? Analogue PAL broadcasts have very much ceased in Europe, NTSC was turned off in the US as well. Very much any TV made in the last few years has a digital HDMI input, often multiple HDMI inputs.

Even if you're using the analogue 60Hz only output it shouldn't be a problem, many TVs in Europe are multi-standard PAL/NTSC 50/60Hz, unless you've got something really vintage, like 20 years old or more. Sure if anyone has coughed up all that money for an XBox One, they're not very likely to be using it with an old wooden cabinet Radio Rentals or Rediffusion thing.

If one is using the analogue composite interlaced 525 line 60Hz output, it's hardly going to show the One at its best. It really needs digital HD.

I've been away for a while and I come back and get a sucker punch:D

The 50hz problem is massive here, the problem is not with the xbox or the tv, it's the way our programming is broadcast.. I can't see the likes of Sky or Virgin changing anything so Microsoft will have to come up with a fix. Apparently sport is virtually unwatchable on it as the stutter is most noticed on fast moving programming.

^Yes exactly what you said;);)

Edit: what, two pages? Now let me think

Was leaning towards both with the PS4 being first purchase.

Now I'm leaning towards just the PS4. And I rarely do this. I might invest more money and time in my Wii U than get an Xbox One.

Exclusives man, exclusives says I have to get an Xbox One...lol. If I do get both any multi platform games will be on the PS4. Looks like the Xbox One and Wii U will be exclusive only machines for me. My PS3 started as exclusives only...that switched when most friends, co workers had PS3's in recent years. Since they are all in on PS4 only...that also dictates where my money is spent.

I somewhat have to agree. However, I see no purpose in purchasing a console that I will play a limited amount of titles for while it collects dust every other occasion. Just seems wasteful, imo.

Great news this week for the xb1, lots of fixes for almost every problem I mentioned in my mini review.. ui will be smartened up, battery power indicator added, Kinect improvements & a bunch of other stuff including support for usb crap you'll probably never use :D that's on the 11th then on March 4th the party chat and contact problem/irritation will be completely overhauled. A few months late but still welcome nonetheless.

hi.. it is 2015 xmas season....

I would like to relook at this battle... I might be in looking to get a new console. Prices have dropped into a reasonable area. Games are still kind of high.

I currently enjoy my PS3... and games on it are very cheap.. I might just trucking along with it.

Which is winning the top console? king of the hill?
From my short research... I am leaning towards the PS4.
