Email not syncing automatically

Well if you are using the default email app that came with your S6, have you tried using AOL's app instead?

Or try some of the other really robust third-party email clients from Google Play. I like 'K- 9 Mail' myself. Lots of praise for 'Aqua Mail' in a lot of threads in this forum.

Which mail app are you using? It's hard to give any suggestions when you don't give some details to us. Different mail apps have different capabilities and include different options. That said, for some it really is a benefit to not having your phone always beeping or having a flashing LED constantly distracting you. It's not really that much of a problem to just press a button to have your email refresh itself manually instead of automatically.
Just as an example with K-9 Mail there are settings to toggle on/off the LED notification (and color), vibrate, and sound notification. They're separate options so you just set up one or all three the way that suits you.

Forget all of the other email apps, just install Aqua Mail and be done with it.

Configurable for any situation you might want.
It handles multiple email accounts with aplomb

* Aqua Mail - email app - Android Apps on Google Play

all that said, I have ALL Notifications turned OFF....
but, when I open Aqual Mail, everything is there, waiting for me.
