Missing BlinkFeed after switching from HTC One to Nexus 5x

Can anyone recommend a replacement app for the news and social media aggregator BlinkFeed that was on my HTC One? I loved that feature and haven't been able to find anything quite like it. It had a scrollable list of tiles that had articles from the web on configured topics and littered in random posts from my twitter and facebook feeds as well. I saw flipboard recommended but its not the same. It looks like more of a magazine flipping through individual articles and doesn't integrate social media. I like the stock Nexus UI and don't want to have to root and install the BlinkFeed launcher. I just want something like the news aggregator that was in it when you scrolled to the far left screen.

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS davidmillican !

You can have the best of both worlds without rooting your device:

I have it installed on every device I get my hands on,one of the 1st things I load up.

If you like the stock Nexus U/I Launcher, you can still use both, there are apps in the Google Play Store that allow for making shortcuts,or easy switching back & forth between the stock launcher & Blinkfeed.

If you're open to using a launcher such as Apex or Nova, shortcuts are even easier/more seamless/cleaner looking than using the stock launcher & shortcut apps.
