Standard warranties typically do not cover damage,only defects/breakage from normal use.
Wouldn't hurt to give Samsung a holla & see if they'll issue you one,free of charge.
If you bought it from a carrier,they may replace it as well.
I had a charger quit working for my Note4 that I got from T-Mobile.
They replaced it,not even needing the defective one sent in & only charged shipping.
YMMV,but,it's worth a shot.
