Root [Boost Mobile] ROM's confirmed working for SPH-L710T

I'm interested in trying octos. The original post in this thread indicates that we should use the d2bst version, but I'm not seeing that in the Weekly Builds page. What am I missing? Thanks.

If your using triband VM use the d2refreshspr. The new weekly has aroma installer back in it so u won't need vmapnfix but anything before that you will. I use it as my daily driver and have no issues at all.

No problem I tried to pm you but it wouldn't let me.
Any suggestions on a minimalist rom that works on the SPH-L710T?
No rom I try works.
Most builds are for the 710 not 710T.
Please see a copy of my post below from the main forum.

Sprint
Samsung Galaxy S3
SPH-L710T
KitKat 4.4.2
Baseband L710TVPU0ANF4
Stock Image
This phone is the triband model and not the standard 710.
This model also appears branded and sold by Boost Mobile.

The stock rom on this handset is bloated and slow. I just can not stand using it. I want to install a custom and more minimal rom such as Carbon or CM10 or CM11.

The problem is most custom roms were designed for the 710. The 710T has incompatibility issues because the modem and bootloader appear to be different than the 710.

I can install most of the custom roms that are made available for the non-triband model. The problem is the radio doesn't work. The phone can not register on the network because there is no working modem.

I have tried flashing the NF4 radio after installing a handful of custom roms but the modem functionality doesn't appear to return. And the baseband information will display as unknown. Each attempt forces me to flash the stock 4.4.2 build to get the phone working again.

Does anyone have any working suggestions on how I can dump this stock rom and place a more minimalist working rom on the SPH-L710T? Or have I painted myself in a corner by buying the triband model instead of the standard non-lte model?

I have reviewed the other thread that covers known working roms for the SPH-L710M. But I am not clear on the steps to make them work. I tried installing CM11 and flashing NF4. No success.

I have tried CM10, CM11 and Carbon roms. But most of these roms were designed for the 710. The radio doesn't work. I have tried flashing NF4 after installing these roms but still I get no radio. I always have to revert to the stock 4.4.2 build which is SamBloated in order to get the phone in a usable and working state again.

i will write a post later of how i got my phone to work finally. these "T" models need to be rooted and left alone. they run very well as a stock phone and for a long time i was very sorry i tried to change it. i did the liquidsmooth rom with a sprint kernel and 4.4 gapps and flashed it all through philz in my bootloader. i got my phone and everything seems to really be working well. i will get it to you this afternoon.
relieved pgellen.

ok here we go. first off i want to say that when i got my l710T i think like most people i didn't know that it was any different however in defence of my phone dealer neither did he. i have to have used phones as im on disability and go through a government subsidised program that only uses refurbs. the last three phones have been samsung's s3's. my original l710 and 2 following tribands,. these phones are just now coming back into the dealers after upgrades i guess because there are no more 710's. i know i wait at the door every morning to check when they open.
tjhe tribands i believe should be rooted and some of the bloatware removed but, my t ran like crazy. i was just getting to the point where i was thinking of leaving it alone when, i just had to experiment and i lost the whole thing. that was a month ago. thats when i found how difficult it was to make thive had no phone and no music.
my main m9ission was just to get it back to stock. i was really pretty happy with the 't'.
i found out real quick that i couldnt do "anything that i could do on my 710.
i just read through your post and we have been up to the same stuff pretty much. first i couldnt find anything on the triband. its out there but for some reason i wasnt typing in the right word.
Hockage from XDA actually got me started down the right ntrack although his method to root the t didn't work for me the tools he opened my eyes to twrp and philz and i had to learn to use them.
nothing would work!!! i was so frustrated! someone is also going to ban me from posting! i have to shorten this. i think also i should be writing it in gogle +. haha ive been driving for a long time

-so i rooted it by LOADING twrp through odin and then i mounted a usb drive and downloaded philz 4. i flashed philz through twrp at the bootloader, by the WAY I ALSO DOWNLOADED supersu beta which i later was told to update which i did. this stuff is by chainfire.
-i FLASHED TWRP FROM ODIN 3.07
I MOUNTED THE USB AND DOWNLOADED PHILS 4. O
I DOWNLOADED SUPERUSER BETA
I FLASHED PHILZ THROUGH TWRP ON THE BOOTLOADER.
THEN I USED THE PHILZ COMMAND TO ROOT THE DEVICE
THEN I FLashed superuser WHICH I'M NOT SURE WHY BECAUSE EVERYTIME I REBOOT, PHILZ HAS TO RE-ROOT. THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE BINARY OF THESE T''s THAT WON'T LET THAT BINARY BE MODIFIED PERMANENTLY. ONCE I WAS TOLD TO UPGRADE SUPER USER I DIDN'T HAVE THE PROBLEM IN MY (Sorry for the caps but im too tired to change it) running system but every time i reboot out of the bootloader the root is gone.
that's how you root it. well, how i root it!

the roms i went through one after the other for three weeks. i read article after article and i have still not been able to flash any samsung stock firmware. nothing!!!! in odin i get complete failure and through my bootloader it says completed however it locks uo on the splash screen everytime. ive tried different versions of twrp, different versions of philz different md5 files and different zip files. i got nothing.
so, i installed cmod 12.1 running 5.1 and it booted right up and ran. i did this 15 times with differing methods and versions of software and i could make it run every time!! however, all the time i was searching for a way to get my triband back.
so, my search went on. i have a friend i n india who had me download all the samsung free code and modem specs and he was going to write the fix for me. he is working and busy and far away so while waiting i kept experimenting.
then i started finding triband forums which didn't help me much except for when i found the little nudge that hokage gave me, thanks man,,
i knew awhile ago that i would have to use a boost mobile md5 or i believe mverizon also, has the "T". by now i wasnt sared at all to try just that. last night everything came together when i started reading up boost mobiles page,

THis is how i got the liquid smooth to work.
i actually started on this page and got the liquid file,
ok, these are the files, ive talked too much i am orry,,,

1- i flashed twrp from 3.07 odin, twrpd2lte unified_with refresh.zip
then i booted twrp and mounted the usb port.
downloaded philz_touch6.48.4-d2lte.zip
i flashed philz, ran the root and booted into usb again and downloaded
beta-supersu-v2.41.zip
i flashed that and booted back into philz AND REROOTED AND reran superuser
i mounted usb again an downloaded:
update-SuperSu-v2.37.zip
ls-kk-V3.2-2014-10-05-d2lte.zip
lk_s3aosp_kitkat-v9.9.zip
sph-l710t_modem-(KOT49H.L710TVPUOANF4).ZIP, JEEZ, THIS FILE came from a developers site and its been a long time. i cant remember where but all others are available through this site.
i got open_gapps-arm-4.4-stock-20160224.zipi flashed each in this order through philz with the supersu bringing up the rear. of course philz rerooted on the reboot.
up to now i haven't had to reroot except i do get binary errors all the time and chainfire goes out and fixes it but it comes up again.
some of the files i tried in the past month are
l710t-stockroot.zip
cm-12.1-20150507-NIGHTLY-D2SPR.ZIP--THIS ONE WORKED GREAT AND I UPGRADED ALL THE WAY TO VERSION 20. i really like android 5.5
there are other samsung root files but i dont have them here and i hAVE TO QUIT.
im sorry its so long.
my phone works, my music screams and i havent noticed any major glitches. i am happy.

You can flash any ROM built for the standard l710, on the 710t. You just need the modem firmware symlink fix. Then data will work fine.
All of that flashing is soooo wrong. Dude....
And what do you mean you have philz in bootloader? You seem to have flashed so many random things. I can help you if you want. All of that can be simplified by a lot.

Does this apply to boost mobile users too? If so, do you have a link to this fix. I've basically given up on custom roms on this phone because I can never get data working

Hello again. Just switched to ringplus for my cell service. It's free! you guys should check it out. Anyway, I went back to stock for the switch because dialer codes never seem to work on custom ROMS. Everything worked well on stock. As soon As I put a Rom on I don't get 4G. 3G yes, but no 4G. I've been running Android Ice Cold Project for a awhile. It's Marshmallow, and there is no place to update profile, PRL update, or APN settings. I've tried toggling Airplane, the APN fix (broke it worse), and other things. Can't use the ##72786# because it's not the stock dialer. I have the SPH-710. Can someone help please? Is there a way to perform an update without ##72786#, or can I use a different dialer app? As always, thanks to all the Dev's out there.

Did you try the second dirty flash method I came up with? After you flash rom and apn fix, (don't know if there is a ringplus one) boot up then dirty flash just the rom without any wipes. Might work to get lte working.

Thanks I tried the APN fix found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553118 no joy. Sounds like people are having success going back to stock, backing up with APN backup and restore, then placing that file with the app installed on their new ROM. Only Android 6 doesn't allow third party apps to change APN's. Is there anyway to perform hands free activation on 6.0.1, without dialer codes? Can you even access the APN menus in 6.0.1?

Update. I also flashed the zip here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...t/flashable-lte-fix-moto-e-6-x-boost-t3290719 , but all these fixes only change the carrier name under the reception bars from Sprint, to boost, to Ring Plus. None of them turn the 4G radio on. AICP ROM has a toggle in the navigation menu. Could that be causing anything. I've posted on their XDA forum too. I'll let everyone know how it gets fixed.

i have a question ive been reading many threads on the forums about tethering a boost SPH-L710T. i have been having problems getting other app to work following a stock root(i did not flash the modem or rom). One app mentioned that i did find sucessful with was the wifi tether router found in the playstore. But my question is, with boost or sprint network phones is it possible to tether and talk? Or will flashing a custom rom enable this? point blank is there a fix to having a rooted boost device and being able to talk and tether?
