Root ZTE ZMAX TWRP NEW VERSION 2.8.6.0

I've successfully temp rooted using Kingroot, but when I try to install TWRP via the APK, I get a "Failure" message along the lines of:

Error running exec(). Command; [su, -c, ./data/data/com.eclipse.android.razr.bootstrap/files/surunner.sh] Working Directory: null Environment: null

I've tried rebooting (and re-rooting using Kingroot), no dice. I've uninstalled the TWRP installer, re-downloaded it, re-installed it, no dice. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Thoughts?

EDIT: Never mind. Apparently the solution is to just keep trying. I eventually got it to install (no idea what I did differently, if anything), and even got the "success" notification. Rebooting into recovery took me to stock, not TWRP, so I rebooted and tried it again. It worked after that.

So after rooting with Kingroot, I Installed TWRP then went to flash TWRP and I got this error message;

FAILURE
Error running exec(). Command: [su,-c,./data/data/com.eclipse.android.razr.bootstrap/files/surunner.sh]
Working directory: null environment: null
What exactly does this mean, and what steps do i need to take to fix this, so I can flash and use TWRP correctly. Please and thank you in advance

Most likely your temp root didn't stick, because that message only appears if your not tmp rooted, restart the steps from begging to get tmp root, then grant super user permissions to twrp installer then flash twrp img. And then uninstall king root and reboot.

I know it's not the right forum but can this be used on the N9521(Boost Max plus)?No root or recovery yet!Again I apologize but after endless searching this is the only place I could turn to!
Hey bro! How ya been?! Here's the issue: if there's no Root, then the recovery is useless since ZTE disabled access to Fastboot, Bootloader without Root. Ur gonna need Root anyways to identify/locate the by-name and partitions to compare with the other device. If it's identical then you're good.. But you'll not get partition info without Root to begin with. Achieve Root and you can go from there.. Is the Max+ KK or LP?

Even if rooting and flashing TWRP was possible on that device, there may not be any SWITCHER and RESTORE files specific to your device to take full advantage of write access on it.

Then again, if your adventurous and want to try out a set of these files yourself (after successfully rooting, installing TWRP and doing a full nandroid backup in case of a soft brick, of course), then have at it. Just check your software version, search through the forum that pertains to it and have fun with it. Who knows, it might just work and we can add it to the list of other ZTE devices LOL.

Just saying...:)

I'll upload a twrp backup of the system and boot partitions and send you a link.
I have the MetroPCS 4.4.4 version also
Edit: I've finished uploading the backup and, I've added a link in post#2 of this thread so that it will be easy to find for anyone who may need it.

At least I got the phone rooted. Now I am confused. First, Post #2 above doesn't have any links, ??? Second, Can someone post a comprehensive step by step process including the links to the files that should be installed in the correct order please? I followed up to the Android System Recovery Screen in TWRP, but the instructions say to use the back button to get to System etc. The back button doesn't do anything. Now, you are saying we should have or do a backup of the system and boot partitions using TWRP? How is that done? the instructions say to click the install button on the TWRP main screen, but there is no INSTALL button???
I tried installing the SU file but got errors saying "failed to verify whole-file package and E-signature verification failed, package corrupt, Installation aborted. ( I deleted and re-downloaded the file twice with the same result.
