Help Can't hear while calling unless on speaker.

I don't know what it is, but when making a call, I can't hear a dial tone or another person unless I put the phone on speakerphone. No dial tone, no ring, no voice, just silence. If I put it on speaker, I can hear everything fine. Has anyone else had this issue before? Any suggestions? Or do I just need a new phone?

Is this a VS980 (Verizon) model? If so, is it only when you call out? Then try toggling the speaker phone on and off quickly after connecting, it will probably work. Try turning on/off Advanced Calling (VoLTE Calling). This seems to be an issue with Advanced Calling (VoLTE) feature in the ROM. It can often be corrected by doing a factory default if stock.

I have this problem due to the VoLTE and it is so random when it does/doesn't work. I was literally yesterday streaming Netflix yesterday using my bluetooth headset; got a call during the stream but I couldn't hear anything even if I toggled the headset/speaker/earpiece. I'm currently shopping for a new phone.

I have this same issue. Callers can hear me when I call out or they call in. I can hear all music, notifications, ringtones, alarms when using apps it is only me that cannot hear when calling unless on speaker phone or have headphones plugged in. Tried turning off advanced calling, plugging headphones in and out, toggling speaker on and off as well as doing a factory reset. Still nothing. I did buy a new ear speaker but haven't gotten around to installing it as was going to try all options first. Are there any other options before opening my phone and putting in a new speaker? Or have I not tried everything?

I don't use my G2 now, bought a Moto X Pure Edition last month. But to fix my issue when I had it, I had rolled my G2 back to the original Jelly Bean version in order to get my free hotspot working. When I did this, every one of my issues and bugs were gone including this problem. I kept it on JB and it was solid ever since, no issues again up to this day.

I did the factory reset this weekend. Still have issue of not hearing call. Hubby is going to try to replace ear speaker and see if that helps...otherwise I think it will be buying a new phone that does the trick, lol.
