Root [Guide] Best ad blocking no app needed for rooted phone

this absolutely destroys the performance of the volt if u r using the CM12.1 ROM...Good thing I had a backup before flashing this...and I do agree that this requires a phone with more ram and a better CPU, but since the volt has so little, it really does effect it, like I can only run one thing at a time...barely, but before it, i could do two like play music and a game together. IDK if its just my phone but it doesn't need the adware, there really aren't that many ads but I saw this and said it would improve performance when it really doesn't. But i should add that it's only because the Volt is not that powerful or maybe its the ROM i flashed which may eat up RAM but that doesn't make too much sense since my phone runs smoother than it did on the KitKat Version...Doesn't seem like i will be using it but in the end, if u r THAT BOTHERED by ads, go ahead. And i should say, the ads don't do that much damage, and I feel as though this takes up more time for the LG Volt. SO in conclusion, this probably is good, but not for this phone.

I tried to get AdAway to work with the MOAB file site by adding it to the sources list but everytiume it stopped and crashed. I thought AdAway could mesh all the hosts files together? Is anyone still using this technique ?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm pretty sure it's crashing because the moab list is too big for it to handle. I'm trying to do this because with adaway you can easily whitelist or blacklist things.

I ended up giving up on that method because like you said too big a file caused it to crash. So went back to just using L___y P______r since it has a built in ad block thing to alter the host file. Simple solution and I never get ads, this other method was way to complicated imo.
