[Official] User reviews

My list of issues is, but not limited to....

Force Closing.
Random Reboots.
Random power shut downs.
Won't always receive texts from iphone users.
WILL SOMETIMES receive texts from iphone users, but hours later.
Still haven't gotten 5.1.1 and it's been 3 weeks.
Backing out of apps opens old apps. repeat. a million times.
1+2+3: Possibly caused by a certain app.
4+5: The blame should be put squarely on iMessage.
6: This should not happen. Dial 611. Make it clear it's unacceptable.
7. That's expected. Tap Home or Previous instead.

FWIW, my wife has a Nexus 6 from T-Mobile and just loves it. She"s had none of your problems (or any others) except, of course, sometimes iMessage.

My review would be similar to Jimbo's. It's the first smartphone I *didn't* buy on release day, (I'm 8 months late to the party) because my upgrade was up and what's coming out isn't as good, (LG Nexus, Huawei Nexus, Note 5) or the couple of things they do marginally better aren't huge enough to matter to me. None of them have a 6" screen. For the things I find important the N6 wins hands down. It's the first phone that made me put my Droid Maxx down which was a great phone.

...and I haven't even rooted it yet. That's the best part of this. Insanely crisp, huge screen. Powerhouse CPU. Fantastic camera... and it's a Nexus!

Hi guys. I am just curious at the overall performance of the nexus 6. I am currently still using the galaxy s3 and was considering upgrading to this device due to its huge screen and different feel of other phones. I am just wondering how the battery life is and anything else worth mentioning. And is the curvy back side really a con when texting? And i was wondering if an after market case would fix the issue.

Ps. I have also considered the huawei mate 2 or 7 and even the moto x pure.

Thanks guys!

Hmm. I just jumped on the Nexus 6 about four months ago - basically one year after its release. It is still plenty fast enough for the apps and games I use. The battery life is...okay - but that may be due to what apps and things I have running. The curvy back is definitely something that can be fixed with a case, if it even bothers you at all. That being said, if you're coming from an S3, you seem to keep your phones a long time. You might want to consider a newer device so you can keep it longer. I don't know how much longer the 6 will remain viable, especially considering the battery is not replaceable (or at least not easily done) and will degrade over time. Just my $.02 though - I still love this phone, and plan on keeping it until Project Ara finally/hopefully arrives...

I have had my N6 since Thanksgiving 2014 (Just after it came out). I have done exhaustive research on the phones currently available (i.e. LG G4 and V10, Samsung Note and S series, Moto X pure, HTC M series, Nexus 5X and 6P).

I have yet to find anything that "fills the bill" like the N6. This is my first Nexus device and honestly I don't know if I can ever go back from having the control over the phone that is only inherent to the Nexus line. That said I am not a huge fan of the 5X or 6P so I will see what the 2016 crop looks like.

If you're on the fence about getting the N6 don't be. I paid almost twice what they are asking for one now and have not regretted it for a minute. If you like bigish phones then there really are not any drawbacks to this handset. Camera could be better but it's really not bad, in fact it's quite good, just not as good as some of the new phones. Otherwise the N6 can go blow for blow with anything else out there.

Thanks for the great feedback, it covered a lot of my concerns. Would you consider the moto x pure a 'new' device because it was one of my other considerations. However, i am really trying to limit my spending cost.
That is also a fine device, and very similar to the Nexus 6. Maybe a tiny bit faster (CPU 808 versus 805), but it has a slightly smaller screen, and it is is LCD instead OLED. At the time I bought it, the 6 was cheaper than the X Pure, and I also prefer OLED, so that helped make my choice easier. The X Pure does have an SD card, but that is no longer a concern for me. The X Pure does have a better camera though...
