I posted a thread before stating that a I have music files that I have on my PC. I Plug my phone in to the pc, navigate to the music folder in the SD card. I have 20 folders of artist that I move from my PC to my music folder on my android SD card. All 20 folders transfer to the music folder. they are there. I can click on all of them. When I unplug the phone from the pc. I restart the phone to reset the connection to the SD card. after reset, I only see 6 folders!

I have no idea what is going on. I have already purchased a new SD card and tried taking the SD out and placing into a card adapter straight to the computer. even then it still only shows 1/3 of the music.

Can someone please help with this. Does the SD card with FAT32 file system only allow certain amount of data in each root folder?

if its fat32 try running check disk and see if there is a filesystem issue. put the card into the computer to do this don't do it with the card in the phone. As far a root folder limit Its been a long time but I think that windows 9x had a 256 max of items that could be in the root folder. Not sure if that was a fat limitation or a Windows limitation.

File system check turned out good. no problems. File System limitation is on the file system itself not any OS. So the SD card has the root folders like normal. (Andriod, Download, Music, Appdata) Its the music folder that for all I can tell can only fit 6-10 sub folders inside the music folder in the root directory. So I am trying to just put ALL music files totaling in 1095 files and put all inside the Music folder, with no artist folders or album sub folders. I believe this may be the issue with the sub folders. I am trying right now and will report back.

Frys Electronics, SanDisk.

However there is something interesting here. All my music files start with of course the album track number (01,02,03,04, etc...). When I placed all music files in 1 folder and moved them. it copied basically ALL of them. however, the folder count in the Music folder never went above 7. Well, now all albums only go up to the 7th track.

This is getting mega confusing.

Make sure all Metadata is correct. I correct everything on pc using Windows Media Player, then move folder to phone. On phone, I like MUSIXMATCH to correct everything. I just got daughter new phone. She had dl all her music on old phone from an MP3 app from play store. All albums were titled "Music". Song names were correct though. MUSIXMATCH fixed them all (about 3000 songs...)
