Looking for some input on the Moto G 2015 version, for those that own it, what do you think about it?

I'm on Virgin Mobile and buying a new phone this week. Best Buy has this phone, the Moto G 2015 version...and the new Samsung Galaxy J3 which just came out on VM not long ago. It's also on sale for $149.99.

moto g 3rd gen hands down. also if T-Mobile has good service in your area, I would ditch VM. I used them for years and imo it's worth spending the extra 20 to 25 dollars to use Metropcs (uses T-Mobile network) or T-Mobile and not worry about using too much data. unless of course you have wifi access wherever you go.

The Moto G 3rd Gen 2015 is a solid phone at a great price. Spend the extra $ (and maybe wait a little longer for the phone) to get 2GB of ram and 16GB of storage. I added a 16GB microSD for extra storage. No NFC or gyro but otherwise very serviceable. I think this means it won't work with POS devices. I don't care about this. I use Consumer Cellular (ATT network mostly) so I own the phone. I do notice that the data usage readout isn't very accurate but it says right on the screen that this might be the case. Marshmallow has improved battery performance to outstanding. Camera and 720 screen are OK but not the best among competitors. Good clean implementation of Marshmallow compared to other brands. Water resistant too. Use Moto Display app (included) and you'll never wear out the power button.

I had a quick play with an honor 5x today... The hardware feels really nice and it looks great... The built in launcher looks very apple like... But I'm sure that can be fixed with a decent launcher ;)

Otherwise at this price point the Motorola would be the one to beat... If
True... But Huawei plus Nova Launcher is pretty sweet. [emoji3]

Well you can get the Moto G (2015) for VM for around $130.00, possibly less when it's on sale at Best Buy....and the Galaxy J3 for VM is $150.00 right now at Best Buy. I would never switch to T-Mobile in a million years to be honest I appreciate the input on that though. VM has been pretty good for me honestly. From what I understand the Galaxy J3 has a higher quality processor and a better screen than the Moto G but the Moto G has a better camera and some other little things are better. The Samsung J3 is really new in the US market so there's not much info out there about it yet.

I get what your saying, and if plan on never unlocking the bootloader, rooting, or flashing custom ROMs, the VM Moto G 2015 is probably they way to go, although you may or may not get Marshmallow upgrade. VM is notorious for not doing upgrades and the VM branded ones cannot be unlocked. Just be aware of that, but the phone does extremely well on lollipop so it may or may not be an issue for you.

I own the Samsung Galaxy J3. And impressions out of the box so far are good from me. The device is still pretty new in its life span so not much around development wise yet. But this vs the Moto G is probably better for the J3. It isnt locked down and having a minimal amount of hope of getting development going. I already have aquired temp root and actually debloated the device although the root method is not good and is as I said only temp. So there is at least a start to things. There is a Sprint firmware for the J3 that both vm and boost seem to share with main carrier. I would wager that early on that that firmware can be used to get a rooted stock rom out. Then from there we will see. I am very unfamiliar with Samsung devices so my skills with them are weak at the moment. But am digging in deep. I wish the best for you on picking a new device. At least you do research it a bit before jumping in head first.
