[OFFICIAL] LG G3 Updates/Speculation Thread

I'm on Verizon and getting the update right now. Will report back with issues if they arise. Took a month from bolski's post, but it's here for me.

Yeah, it appears as if those users might have been guinea pig testers. :)

In any case, got mine yesterday around 1 pm EST. So far, I'm liking it. No major issues to report. Only how it no longer mounts my external SD card as /storage/external_SD, but instead as /storage/3894-D900, which appears to be a serial number it assigns when you last formatted it. I did try with a different card and reformatted it and it had a different number, so it does appear to be based on some default number it assigns when you format it.

I've had two "minor" issues that are not show stoppers for me.

  1. I use a 3rd party app called Alarm Xtreme. I like how it does an alarm that increases the volume as the alarm continues. I noticed that this no longer works and it's definitely due to Doze mode. I did go to Settings->Battery->Usage->Ignore Optimizations and selected Alarm Xtreme to not be optimized by Doze mode but that didn't seem to work. The stock alarm does, so I'll go with that.
  2. Game of War - I've noticed since upgrading to Marshmallow that in Game of War, when I'm in chat, I cannot see the chat input box anymore when typing. I've verified that it works fine on my Nexus 7 but it's running LP. I've asked other players who have upgraded to MM, and they don't have this issue. I've uninstalled, reinistalled, cleared data and cache, and finally did a factory reset and the problem still persists. I'm wondering if it only affects G3s for some reason? I've switched keyboards (Swiftkey is my default, but the issue is still there with the G3 keyboard and the Google keyboard). Anyone else play GOW and see this issue?
Other than that, a pretty good OTA. Haven't rooted yet as I don't have a reason to at this point, plus in case another point release OTA comes to push us to 6.0.1, I'll wait and see where that leads me before I root again.

I held off on the update for some time because I was so unhappy with the last update, but finally did it today and wish I hadn't waited. My phone is so much faster!

One small issue/question - I used to have a widget on my home page that had the clock and weather. The widget still appears, now with this smart notice feature. All well and good except I used to touch the clock to access my alarms and that seems to be gone. I see there is a separate clock widget so I will just use that for now, but both won't fit in my home screen so one will have to go unless I am missing something?

Also, when I backspace to delete I appreciate that it's much faster if you hold your finger down, but it's SO fast that I am accidentally deleting much more than I want. Is there a setting to slow it down just a little?

I just want to go back to Kitkat, that worked well, didn't reboot the phone, and the whole system was easy to understand. Lollipop has not only slowed things on the phone, like opening text messages, but, ruined battery life, and changed home screen buttons to something from Playstation or Xbox. Why do they change something that works and force it on us? Updates destroy electronics.

Why does it take so long to get 6.0M update?
Of all the phones I ever owned, the G3 in one of my least favorite. It has the worst GPS performance of all phones. I'm handing the phone down to my wife (has a GPS nav in her car) and I have ordered a Nexus 6P. I'm done with branded phone and definitely done with Service providers' bloated locked phones.

Im the phone would get theM update before I set it up for my wife. I'll give it two more weeks.

Looks like the G3 will have another update from the official Google January security patches. Apparently, LG will patch their G models as well as newer models, so look for another OTA sometime in the near future.

I myself no longer have the G3 as it died last month, so I'm now on a different phone, but I still follow the G3 to lend assistance for those in need.

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Old thread but here goes...
LG G3 VS985 update 4AB received about a week ago was good for battery but left a nagging notification about "night mode". I would like to get rid of it.
