Craigslist nationwide search

The subject says it all, i need a Craigslist app that will search all 48 continuous states on Craigslist.

What specific use would this have, and why should I, as a developer, spend my time on this project? Living in Michigan, I don't care if someone in Oregon is selling a couch that I really want, and I can't see that many other Craigslist users would, either. Craigslist is specifically designed for local sales, not nationwide ones.

Who would buy this app? Would there be enough people buying it to pay for the time that would be put into developing and maintaining it?

Their are a lot of collectibles sold and traded on Craigslist. Due to Craigslist being free to list many use this instead of Ebay or some other site that is better suited for regional or nationwide sales.

Oh man, so much wrong with your first concern. Craigslist is extremely useful nationwide. Couple of points; craigslist cites are often very close to one another especially if you are after a particular item, I travel all the time in my work and if there is something in a city where I am I might just be interested, people on craigslist might just ship you something after having been contacted (you aren't prohibited from doing this right now correct?)

As to your second concern, I have no idea if people would pay for such an app.

Okay, I can see that Craigslist is not so much local as it is national. I've only used it for local stuff before.

However, I'm just getting into programming for Android. I don't have the experience necessary with accessing or parsing web pages to program this app. If someone else is willing to do it, I'll help in any way I can, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to program the full thing.

If someone had a collectible that was truly worth something, they'd sell it on ebay to get maximal value, NOT craigslist.

Then by extension craigslist is where people put up valuable collectibles for cheap.

I don't think there is a need for this really. There are apps like craignotifyca that do this exact thing. Also the android browser can handle sites that do it like www.dailylister.com searchtempest or allofcraigs

It is needed, if not just for finding vehicles. People travel to buy old cars and trucks (both restored and restorable)

If I'm looking (and I am) for an old truck I want to search every Damn city down south and out west because buying one in Michigan or out east guarantees me a rust bucket or a high price for a clean one.
