Marshmallow update

Hi people when I attempt to update my htc one m8 ee carrier to android 6.0 marshmallow a screen pops up saying that it's been aborted and then some stuff about partitions and memory sorry it's not more detailed but any help would be much appreciated :)

Can you take a screenshot of the error message the next time it occurs,, then post it? That should give all the information needed to know what's going on.

Just got my Verizon OTA update to Marshmallow. So far so good with the exception of the "root>storage>ext_sd" path being changed to "root>storage>3339-3539" . I now have to modify the settings of all apps that access the external SD card. Why was the external SD card link name changed?
No idea. Probably has to do with the final unwinding of the KitKat and Lollipop security half-steps in favor of the Marshmallow model, as well as Marshmallow finally being the first Android to provide complete SD card support.

If you look in settings, Storage & USB, SD card you'll see the new option - format as internal - and that's going to let you use an SD card the same as the built-in storage. I imagine for that to work in the event of swapping SD cards, the system needs to keep track of which card is being used and hence the unique identifier per card.

The original symlink is still there and working - /sdcard2, and also /mnt/media_rw.

For normal SD card use for your pictures and music and so forth you probably want to stick with /sdcard2.

I just got through updating mine to marshmallow. The app store gives me an option to update the HTC Calendar, Connect, Mail, MirrorLink, DLNA, and Tasks, but when I click to update, it gives me an error saying "Error retrieving information from server". It says the same thing on all of them. Any clues?

I haven't been getting some push notifications since the update. Although it seemed like I wasn't getting some emails before the update, only a couple came thru after the update, some didn't. The ones that came thru were 15-20 minutes after the email was sent. Also not getting pushes from tapatalk which I use for this forum.
Other than that, the phone seems to be running a lot smother and faster.

Following installation of marshmallow, how do you clear the cache? In past, we used Power Button + Volume Down.
You still do but you probably ran into the same catch I did - you get to the bootloader, choose Recovery (to wipe cache) and you don't get a recovery screen.

I tried all manner of worthless things before finding the answer -

Solved.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526758

Keep trying both volume and power buttons together until the menu appears.

Been using HTCs since 2010 and this is the first time I've ever had to do that with a stock recovery.

Apparently I have to do it every time on that phone now.

Anyway, there's the solution for the next guy. :)

And that's it - once in Recovery, give it the Vulcan nerve pinch on all three buttons a few times until the menu appears.

Clear cache and reboot same as before from there.

Thank you EarlyMon. What is the Vulcan nerve pinch on all three buttons?!? (Two questions 1- What is Vulcan nerve pinch & 2- What 3 buttons?)
As said in the quote -

Hold both volume buttons and power button until the menu appears.

The original Vulcan nerve pinch in Star Trek hit three points at once - just as the Windows Vulcan nerve pinch was control-alt-delete, the M8's is the 3 hardware buttons. Sorry for the confusion.
