Do you really need a screen protector

Sorry I meant to say I got a Spigen* case, not Spoken.

And I just looked at a review of the OtterBox cases for the s7 edge on YouTube and they do NOT have built-in screen protection.
I have the same problem. Using a Spigen case, the screen protector has started to peel away less than a few hours after it was applied. Very annoying.
Going to wait for a good glass protector to see if that's any better.

What would make a glass screen protector better than any other screen protector for not bubbling up with a case? If it's a full coverage screen protector wouldn't it have the same problem?

I think we need to have a case friendly screen protector option to come out.

Definitely get a screen protector my S7edge fell of the couch and the screen is now cracked and it was in a wallet case. I now have to pay for a new screen. The glass is not under warranty and is classed as consumer missuse. I also phoned Samsung to find out what was covered under the warranty only for them to say that if you damage the phone by dropping it in the sink or in the toilet or even get dust in it its not covered under the warranty. What a cop out thought it was supposed to be water resistant to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes and dust proof.

I doubt there are any phone manufacturers out there that will cover a cracked screen under warranty.

I know that the screen is not under warranty but gorrila glass is supposed to be the strongest glass we have on our phones, most of us have dropped phones from waist hight and above without damaging the glass so why after mine slipped off the couch witch is only 1.5 foot from the ground which is lower than knee hight and also having a wallet type case on, did it crack. Very disappointed.

Yeah it's a bit random. I've dropped phones from seemingly dangerous heights and don't get a crack. And I've dropped them from a seemingly benign height and the screen gets cracked. That's why I always like the comfort of a good, glass screen protector. Whether we get one for the S7 Edge is another question.

I meant whether any company out there would ever manufacture a good glass screen protector. There weren't any good ones for the S6 edge, so maybe the manufacturers are finding it hard to come up with a good glass protector for phones with curved edges. Although I might try the Zagg "glass contour" protector when it's released.

Screen protectors remind me of the clear slip covers that people put on furniture in the 1960's. Who were they saving the furniture for?...the next owner? I've never used a screen protector, and have never scratched a screen on any phone. In addition to clouding the display, they destroy the feel of the screen when navigating. On old flip phones with plastic screens, yes, they are useful, but imho, not on today's phones.

I don't use screen protectors but just noticed my screen already has a couple of small, fine scratches. This phone is 3 days old and has never been dropped or even laid on the screen. The back by the bottom of the phone, likely where it touches first when I set it down, is all scratched up. I could not possibly imagine any gentler use over the last few days so take it for what it's worth. I used my iPhone 6S Plus and sold it as mint as I could not find a single scratch on it. This phone I would not be able to list as mint since it's all scratched up already.

So your contour screen protector has no issue with your case?
Would be very interested in your views regarding this screen protector. Was it easy to install?
How does it feel and look?
What case are you using with it?

Would really appreciate this information

Yes, it has absolutely no issue with any of the cases I've used so far because it never comes into contact with the lip of the cases. Please note that even though they say "edge-to-edge" - it is not really edge-to-edge. I mean, it's not literally from where the glass ends and the metal edge begins to the other side. There is about 1mm space on the side edges and about 2mm space on the top and bottom edges. So, it never contacts the case since there is this gap. I am okay with this gap since my past experience with non-glass protectors - there's really no chance of damage in that tiny miniscule gap between the protector and the case. Also note that the protector ends just a tiny bit before the screen ends at the edge. This may bother some people, but I don't notice it at all. It's not like there is any discernable distortion.

The guy at the AT&T store first attempted to install it and did a mediocre job. When I got back to my office, I lifted the protector up by using scotch tape on both top and bottom of the protector and then aligned it perfectly. It actually wasn't that hard but since it is a dry application, you have to be careful of dust. I would normally go to my bathroom and run hot water to create steam to eliminate the dust but I was impatient and I was lucky that I had no dust issues. The protector is slightly rigid and it will stick but avoid touching the sticky side on the long edges because if you get dust there, it may make it harder to stick on the curve.

The surface is very smooth - close to class. It is not the wet Zagg orange peel effect ones. It is a fingerprint magnet, though so I'm wiping it constantly. Since it is clear, you don't lost any brightness, etc. I really don't notice it on. It is not glass, but I think it's probably the closest you can come.

I am currently using it with my Spigen Tough Armor case and I really love how it looks and feels. I also have the Spigen Slim Armor and Neo Hybrid and the same thing - the protector never comes in contact with the case.

I've attached some pictures so you can see what I mean about the gap - both with and without the Tough Armor case on.

Thank you KupKrazy. Really appreciate the excellent description and the photographs. Those guys should really give you a massive discount.

Haha, I wanted to be as clear as possible because these are the same questions that I was asking about and spending money on trial and error with protectors and cases really suck - so if I was able to help someone out who was wondering, then it was worth it. By the way, I took the pictures with a Note 4 and it was really hard to get it to focus on the screen protector. Hahaha!

I didn't use a screen protector on my S3, and had it for several years. After many drops on asphalt and concrete, plus living a hard life in tough environments, my phone suffered several screen scratches, frame cracks/dents, and spider cracks on the back cover. Its a genuine miracle that the phone functioned and the screen wasn't smashed into pieces. Despite the durability of modern phones, I opted to dawn a glass screen protector and rubber case on my new Axon Pro. Im happy with it so far.

Why get the best and greatest looking phone if your just gonna cover it up and it looks like any other phone out there??? Might as well get a regular one for hundreds less that will make phone calls & texts just fine. That said, I don't like cases or screen covers... never needed them as I don't drop mine... ever! I don't do stupid things like put them in my back pocket, hold them when using the sink/toilet, or between my shoulders & ear while tying my shoes, nor use phone when on pavement or sidewalks... I always put my phones in the soft covers they use for sunglasses before leaving the house. Below, the other 3, S5 not shown as I traded it for the Note 4 (notice that is 6 years between the phones in pics and nary a scratch/smudge on them)

I have the S7 Edge and will put skins by Dbrand on it because I decided it was way too slippery and a big fingerprint magnet. Plus I didn't like the Verizon logo and Samsung brand AND I noticed if I look real hard with the light just right, below the S7 Edge logo you can see some fine print below the finish... what is up with that? Check it out yourself under bright light tilting the phone and you will see several text lines with a garbage can etc. That use to be under the rear housing cover, but since you can't take the back off, it is now there on the back of your nice finish.

I was toying with putting tempered glass on this, but changed my mind. I'll stretch my six year scratch-less record to 8 years. :D

I have not used one in years on my phone or tablet. But, I have a full cover on the tablet and gel type case on the phone. I have dropped my phones several times without any damage. I upgrade every two or three years and the glass always has looked near perfect. My opinion is if you use a case, the screen protector is unnecessary except in sandy or extreme conditions. I do use a glass screen protector on my digital SLR camera which is caseless.

I brought my phone to best buy and put on a zagg tempered glass screen protector the day i received it from Verizon. The Tech that put on my screen protector told me in advance that there will be a halo around the edge of the phone. Even though i have the S7 and NOT the Edge the screen is still a little curved making the halo. Now just over 2 weeks have gone buy since getting this phone and screen protector, i have noticed pocket dust getting under the halo part around the screen protector. If this gets much worse i am just going to rip off the screen protector and just go without. I know a lot of people who do not put one on and just use the phone naked, their phone looks like new with no scratches.

I ran into the same problem w/ the halo effect on the Zagg glass screen protector. After 2 days the amount of dust was unbearable on the sides. I took it back to Best Buy & had them try the Zagg HDX, the halo effect was about the same so I just got a refund. I am currently using just the cheapy ones you can pick up from Verizon ( 3 for $12.99 ). These have a bit of a halo as well, but I'll deal w/ it until I find a better protector w/ no halo.

Just to be clear I have the regular S7 not the Edge.
