SD card constant notifications bug

There would seem to be a bug of some sort where many users are seeing a repeating notification about the SD card in the pull down menu. Even if you swipe it away, it comes back randomly even if you choose unmount. Seems to happen on various carriers, various brand SD cards and somewhat randomly. No proper fix has been found. A few threads over at XDA so far. The cards work fine but the pull down notifications persist no matter what so far. Some think it is a defective tray, some think hardware, some think software. One thing is isn't is the SD card itself. Turning off notifications doesn't seem to help at all. Again, it pops up randomly even if you unmount the card.

If anyone here has this issue, please file a case at Samsung so we might sometime see a fix. thx.

I exchanged my Evo 64 bit at Best Buy and it didn't help at all. I would try another if I had one, but I don't want to master reset for nothing unless that was the official fix for sure. I'm tempted to exchange my phone entirely, but again that means a setup from scratch again and no sure cure. I wish Verizon offered a 64gb version of the edge. Then I would ditch the stupid card altogether. I really hate that we can't get to the real source of this issue.

edit: just popped a Sandisk Extreme Plus card in. I'll see what that does....
(ugg.. no change at all)

Tried more tape and I was hopeful, but the next morning and re-mounted again. Very discouraged. No guarantee a replacement would be any different. I've heard of lots of cases like mine on the other android forums as well.

It is clearly a hardware issue. The restart pop up is not the problem. The card is coming unmounted and then quickly remounted at random times mostly when the screen is asleep. I really think it is a contact problem. If it only pops up at reboot, consider yourself lucky and enjoy.

I did notice that the sim card tray seemed a bit flimsy and hit n miss as to getting the SD Card nicely lined up with it (especially vertically) and then inserted smoothly into the phone. Maybe some of them like you say just aren't lining the card up with contacts inside the phone properly.

Mine is in snug so that isn't the issue. Of course as I mentioned in my last post I haven't seen the same issue again so who knows what it was. T-Mobile pushed an update this morning (just security though) and still haven't seen it since other then the reboot.
Now that I think of it I was having an issue the other day where my fingerprint unlock wasnt working right. Found out it was the screen off and lock app causing the issue. I removed it and things worked and that's when the sd card issue stopped as well. The app wasnt on the sd card at all, but somehow I think at least in my case that was the issue for me.

Sung isn't the issue. The tray is bowed and the area holding the sd card is iffy at best. That said, I just got a notice that I had a security update. Installing it now. Is it too much to hope they already addressed this? Not likely yet. I wonder about the screen off app. I could try uninstalling that.
