My device showed that the update downloaded and I waited 24 hours before actually running the update. I started the update and walked away from the phone. I wish I would've watched it run the update because it doesn't look like it installed. My device shows that I am still on 5.1.1 and on the System Update screen, under Last System Update, it says "Software not updated to 23.31.24.en.US Download failed. However, when I run "Check for System Updates" it says "Your device's software is up to date".

Something obviously went wrong with either my download or the installation. Can anyone say where on the device the download file is located? I thought if I could remove the 'bad' download, perhaps my phone would recognize there is an update available. Any suggestions?

I took advantage of my account promotions, which were going to expire today (03-31), so I upgraded from Turbo to Turbo2. Software check on Turbo2 didn't indicate the update to Marshmallow 6.0 was available.

However, used the Software Upgrade Assistant an it immediately recognized 6.0 was available.

Upgrade went well, took maybe 20min or so. Download was fast via my PC.

Thom...With Android does a person have to update the operating system for the phone to keep working ? My phone worked when I got it on 3-15-2016....then I installed an OTA OS update.....then weird stuff happened....Verizon fixed phone with factory reset....now I would prefer to leave it like it is if possible..... I don't use the phone for any type financial transaction (banking, brokerage etc. )

When an OTA (Over The Air) update is made available it is pushed onto your phone. It then asks permission to install. If you do not grant permission it will "remind" you by asking again later. These reminders eventually wear you down and you grant permission. The only way to stop the nagging reminders is to be root-ed and to rename the distribution file. Root is not currently availed on the Turbo 2.

The problem you had was apparently resolved with the Factory Data Reset. It is unclear (and always will be) what the problem was that got resolved. Hardware glitch perhaps?

It is tempting to consider never updating the system. It goes against the philosophy behind Android to always going forward. There will be new apps available that will require the new version of the system and you will not be able to use them because you don't have it.

I am always on the latest version of the system and have just under 300 apps installed.

When I do a minor system upgrade I always to a Wipe Cache Partition after the update.
When I do a major system upgrade I always do a Factory Data Reset after the update.
