Help Battery life Stinks

I have rooted my Commando, using GO EX, removed all the bloatware as per all the instructions.
Also removed all the things from all the lists and still the battery will not last the entire day.
I'm a light user too. Maybe 10 texts during the day, a few calls, some email and maybe once or twice on the browser to look something up.

Bluetooth off, wifi off, screen shutdown in 30 seconds, etc.

Does someone make a higher capacity battery for this device or is there some other magic to perform to make the battery last a little longer?
Geez, its not even 4G.

Anything that keeps the internet running will kill your battery quick. Are you running any syncing widgets? Look at your battery use and see how much of the time your phone is awake while the screen is off. If it is awake a lot, and I'm guessing it is, it will be up to you to figure out what app or process is keeping it awake and get rid of it.

I keep my background sync disabled. I back out of any apps to make sure they are closed instead of in the background. I run with my data turned off unless I need to check email or look something up and when I am done I turn it back off. I keep the GPS turned off unless I have a need for it. I miss out on instant notification of an incoming email (which is actually pretty nice) and a little wait when I need the internet or my location. What I gain is more than double battery life. YMMV.

I guess that is a help, but it takes away from the sole reason for getting the phone and that is email and sometimes GPS when I use the nav. Having to take extra steps like turning off stuff every time I need BT or GPS is a pain. I forget the BT all the time and only realize after I get in the car and a call comes in. PITA.

bestaudioguy,
You probably already know this but I think it takes several charge cycles before the battery works correctly. I tried several different task killer / battery saver apps. None of them seem to help much. At first to keep the battery alive all day I just turned off 3G unless I needed it and the battery was fine for 16 hours or more. Since I've rooted and uninstalled all the unnecessary stuff my battery is lasting 12 to 14 hours even with 3G on. I'm on the phone at least an hour a day, maybe 10 or so calls. I check several forums throughout the day, Craigslist and eBay a few times a day. What I discovered is that the GPS is a battery drainer, also I installed a Craigslist notifier app, it was checking for new listings ever 10 minutes and was killing the battery. I'm not sure how much battery the Blue Tooth consumes, I don't use it much. I was going to take My Commando back because of the battery life. I'm OK with the battery life at this point, it not what I would like but it's much better than when I first got it and the phone fits my needs.

If your Commando is sill running off its original battery, don't forget it's coming up on five years old. Any Li-ion battery can start to degrade after a couple of years of frequent use so one option might be to just replace it. Amazon is still selling OEM batteries for that model for under $9. Also, note that your phone has a 1460 mAh battery, suitable for the hardware specs of your Commando but still not a very high capacity battery. Just for reference my also dated S3 has a 2100 mAh battery and a lot of new phones typically have 3000+ mAh batteries (granted the hardware now is more demanding so they require more power, but again, just for reference).

Green Power Battery Saver
I highly, highly recommend it for this phone. Give it a try!
https://www.androidpit.com/app/org.gpo.greenpower
(also in Play Store)
Forgot to mention besides allowing to manage sync (I can set snych from every 5 minutes to every 5 hours) also detects when you're close enough to Wi-fi and makes the switch automatically (unless you toggle off). When wi-fi is signal is strong phones uses less energy, and it's still syncing at the rate you choose (not possible with the stock gmail app on this phone) so get a better signal and use less juice. If wi-fi is weak it will switch back to data (you can set what's weak data and wi-fi)
When I leave the house I turn off the Wi-fi management component but it still manages data. I do this ust in case I'm in a store so I don't want to get hacked. The pro version allows you to choose what Wi-fi you'll hook up to so you don't have to worry about disabling the component in Starbucks.
Also will manage Bluetooth and GPS... if enabled. I run my own GPS manually but the bluetooth management in the car... saves juice too.
Has night time settings on the pro version but it's mostly stuff you can do your self.
It doesn't eat much memory space (4.92 MB) or use much RAM. (data 52.00 KB) Unlike most "battery savers" it isn't counter-productive.
Yeah, battery's are cheap but unless you're going to carry a pocket full of charged ones it's still a pain in the backside to drain quickly and recharge constantly.
Seriously, more than doubled my battery life with no performance issue.
Note: Spare Parts app and Green Power don't play nice....? But works with Big Text.
Try it, you'll like it:)
