Root [GUIDE] How to root T-Mobile 6.0 update

Can you make a video? I installed minimal ABD and Fastboot program for windows. When I open up and type "adb devices" it's a no go. Any ideals?

Make sure you have all ADB, Fastboot available. If not check this post from XDA.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118

Download the file and Install it. You have files at c:\adb

Use this folder for installing Recovery and Root

Disconnect USB cable.

Your phone -> Go to Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging is checked.

* If you don't see Developer Options go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Info -> Tab Build Number 7 times until you see 'Now You are Developer message'

Connect USB cable again

Check if your phone gives you message like 'Your computer XXXXYYYY is trying to connect.' -> Grant / Allow

Now check if ADB recognizes your phone.

Did you except the RSA key for your device when the toast popped up on your device screen? Do this go to devwloper options and "revoke USB debugging autherizations" and then enable debugging again. Then when you type in adb devices look at your device screen for the toast to pop up and except it.

Get an error when "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (recovery.img is in the folder)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery recovery
.img
target reported max download size of 268435456 bytes
sending 'recovery' (11300 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.390s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.390s

Maybe the same problem as Nick's - minimal adb and fastboot doesn't cut it for this?

Edit: Nope, full adb and fastboot do the same thing.. what can it be? any help?

Yeah I am not sure minimal adb and fastboot works for rhis method. I suggest you install complete adb and fastboot for this.

now rooted only this I notice is when I reboot I see a splash screen of unlock bootloader..
that's all..

Yes I put the fact that you will get this on the splash screen if you use dastboot oem unlock bit I also put that it is optional to do that if you already have Enable OEM unlock checked in developer options before booting to fastboot mode.

step 7 fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

if i do the fastboot boot recovery it works fine

Just use tge fastboot boot recovery and flash the SuperSU.zip while the recovery booted. Then boot back to the OS and use flashify or rashr to flash the recovery to your device.

Did you let your device reboot all the way to the lock screen by itself after rebooting from recovery when you flashed the SuperSU.zip? You may need to flash the zip file again but it ahould have worked the first time u less you interupted the process when you rebooted.

Hey, I'm new, first post here. I'm still fairly new to rooting too, and was wondering if this has any chance of working on a boost Mobile stylo?

From what I have read they say the Boost mobile variant does not have fastboot. But if you can try this out and let me know what happens maybe I can figure out something for that variant. Hit me up in PM here and I will give you my info to contact me on hangouts.

Someone from XDA Forum said you can root with Kingroot.
Personally i thought it was a bunch of sh*t, but surpringly the damn thing worked.

All i did was OEM unlock (like this tutorial) and instead of doing the twrp/su stuff from here (because it doesn't work for me either.) I just ran the KingRoot apk (after the oem unlock) and did the auto rooting process. It worked!

Edit: spoke to soon, King root ****s you when you reboot the device.

I couldn't find an adb folder but Blu8's advice worked perfectly. By the way, I had to "fastboot oem unlock" (not optional, at least in my case, even with bootloader unlock enabled in Developer Options).

I'd advise anyone who wants to root to back up first with LGBackup. It did a great job restoring my apps, app data, settings, etc. after bootloader unlock & root.
