Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Just wanted to say that I am soooo Sorry for my rude behavior this week on this site....

I honestly did not mean to offend anyone with my stupid rants...

Please forgive me....I am just going through some rough times at work.

I sincerely promise to be more respectful to everyone here and I promise to be much less 'prideful' and much less 'egotistical'

I promise to be more careful what I say and more careful how I say it.

[scans back through posts...]
Nope, can't see anything to apologise for.
That's the beauty of being anonymous on forums - you can rant about work, people, anything you like. :thumbsupdroid:

Anything associated with our kid farts a lot. She's complained about her moggies in the UK. The 2 cats Meez and Fluffbutt have a flatulence problem (we inherited them) as did the ferrets when they were here.

I never noticed, but the zoo would invariably get the Vulcan who has NO room to complain.

The newer cars with all the conveniences are not environmentally safe for the partner of a noxious fume emitter who does not like the noise of outside air and apparently has no sense of smell. My Tacoma doesn't have air conditioning. I wouldn't have bought it if it did.

Setting up a WiFi printer..............

that is such a frustrating experience....
I have a Samsung ML-1865W printer, works like a champ "once it is ready to go"......

But, the configuration app is a PITA, it does not work the same way "every time" you use it...
It has no feedback worth a damn. Nothing about why it did not connect.

Sometimes, when you do the manual "enter key code" it works the first time.....
today? that never worked period......... I wasted 3 hours trying to get it to set up like it was before.....

What happened? AT&T came in and redid my ADSL setup, gave me a new improved, Professional U-Verse router, and of course, that new one has a different WPA security code.... entering those codes manually never worked once.....

So, I thought "hey! why not just use the WPS buttons?
Well, there isn't any manuals on either the router, or the printer, that tell you just exactly what procedure will make it hook up the "first time"...... another hour wasted..... and again, no indicator lights that tell me "Hey it works now!"

as the manual method would not work at all, I just kept changing techniques, who's on First Base First??? seems like it makes a difference. How long do you hold down the WPS button to make it 'activate the process' ?? that is important. "Too brief" and it does not work....

finally, I hit google and found a link to a tech guy explaining how to make the Printer go into the WPS mode.

Wallah! it works.......... but still, NO INDICATION OF IT WORKING !@#$%@!#$%^@%$#^

.I just kept using Notepad.exe to send a text page to the printer..... must have done that 30 times before the printer responded.

My Rant for today...

I was given approval, a week couple of weeks ago, to leave work early at 3 PM so I could make it to a reservation at an Irish pub for a 4 PM 'Dinner Sitting' on St. Patrick's Day.

I did not actually get to leave the office today until about 3:50 PM.

Then while I was at the Irish Pub, having fun listing to the loud Irish Music and eating dinner with my dad, I missed a call from my boss at around 5:20 PM.

At about 5:30 PM noticed the missed call, and I called my boss back. I had to apologize to my boss three times for missing the call. And the problem was something that my boss could not find, that should have been easy to find.

I claimed my boss down, but I was told to be more careful with paying attention to the calls that come into my mobile phone.

It really sux being on a PIP, and having to be very careful about what I say and do.

Rant Over

Honestly, otherwise I have had a fairly good St. Patrick's Day

Please don't let me bring everyone down...

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!

Weather. [emoji35]
I've been staying at my daughter's house dog sitting for a week, she's supposed to be home in a few hours - but Mother Nature had other plans. Her flight was cancelled until Friday! I was really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight, but it looks like that's not happening.

Disclaimer: Obviously I want the flight to be safe, etc... it's just that her bed is really hard & crappy.

So, Google has released an emergency security patch (yesterday) to fix the local elevation of privilege vulnerability CVE-2015-1805 affecting the kernel of the Android OS of certain devices.

Now, I have a custom ROM and I am Not rooted, personally, I don't see the need anymore.

The Dev who maintains the CM13 ROM for my phone has already patched the kernel and uploaded a new ROM. If a single dev can patch something so critical and so fast, without getting paid for it, it shows what can be done. Let's see a Carrier or OEM work that fast!

Carriers need to get their asses in gear and start updating Android faster than a few months down the line. Maybe we shouldn't expect "Nexus speed" updates but maybe a week or 2 after the Nexus line gets theirs, Carriers and OEMs should release it.

Gears are ground.

I know how it is, how the Carriers are lazy and probably don't care.

I've been using Android since 2.2 (HTC Desire) and it hasn't change in 6 years?! I like the Nexus line apart from the size. Personally, my Samsung Alpha is perfect size-wise (4.7 screen and thin). Very lucky to have a dev who got 6.0 running as smooth and as stable (zero issues) as it is. Contract is up in a couple of months, not sure what I'm going to get.

I love my Nexus 6. With the split screen functionality in Android N, I'm loving it even more.

Bigger is better, and it's still smaller than the gun I carry in my other pocket.

As far as updates, it's definitely not a technical capability issue. It's an economic one. You won't buy their new phones if they keep updating their old ones.
