I have a problem figuring out what is causing my alarm clock icon to appear on my Note 5?I have tried uninstalling recent apps and force stopping apps to disable it and no luck. There has to be a way to figure out what is causing it?I would really appreciate soe more experienced android users giving me a hand. Thanks

Ah, no problem...I don't set alarms that often, but looks like any future alarm that's scheduled would put the icon in the status / notification bar.

Is yours in the upper right (system) area or the upper left (application) side?

If it's in the application (left) side, you should be able to pull-down the notification shade and examine any notifications you have.

If it's in the system (right) side, that (to me) would indicate that it's the stock clock app in the app drawer. Something to try (which I tested on my Nexus 6P) would be to go into Settings -> Apps -> Clock and FORCE STOP the app and see if the alarm icon goes away (mine did when I killed the Clock app). The icon restarted when I re-launched the Clock app, though (and stayed there until I deleted the alarm in the app).

The icon is on te right side and when the clock is force stopped the icon doesn't go away.I just can't understand why there isn't a simple way to check what is causing the icons to show up.The pull down doesn't have any notifications either.

I had a launcher, which I paid for the Pro version (to remove ads & added bonus features) start spamming my desktop with similar unexplained icons, which were links to apps in the Play Store.
This happened without warning & no feedback from the developer regarding this WTF on my phone.
My suggestion is to run in Safe mode until you figure out where this is coming from............

Thanks for the suggestion I will try that. The only other thing that I thought it could be is a medical app that I had removed and reinstalled immediately. The app is made by a group of people that doesn't include any ads or anything other than the bare necessities for app functionality but I emailed them anyway.

Go to alarms turn them off and as well the icon should turn off too,if the icon is in the notification bar, that means an alarm has or about to go off,but not the problem here if it's in the top right corner of the screen, only is to show you that you have alarms scheduled to go off, please read these gentlemen's instruction closely they're all on que,so please go to alarms, delete or turn them off,if the problem does prosist, please update status with the way the problem reacted, thank you sir,I hope your device is corrected from it's current state, good luck.

Ahh...the only apk that can cause this would be in my best of my opinion would be a launcher apk,did you recently installed a custom launcher apk on your device, the reason to this idea is because custom apk sometimes let you select custom themes and icons witch could conflict with the default system settings sometimes even force closing the default clock doesn't effect the custom launchers icon settings if thats the case and or the apk that can have access to that setting is a calendar, scheduler, and custom alarm apk can have alarms set for a day event alert,a scheduled event,or scheduled reminder, possibility could be one of those alarms might of accidentally been scheduled?even if you scheduled for an alert on the calander on a different device, when signing into your Google account sets these scheduled events on the new device your signing on.I'm not entirely sure that these are the cause of the alarm icon bug,but these are a few options on the causes, and hope you find a solution to this problem soon, good luck.

I am running an app called Xdrip. The app is a constant glucose monitor app that is freeware and the developer did it just to help the diabetic community. The newer beta version has made some changes and the newer alerts cause the clock icon to stay constant. The icon annoys me a bit but I can learn to live with it in order to be able to check my blood sugars with my phone.

Ok sir i did a little research on this apk to possibly find the cause of this bug on your device, and it turns out for this application to work you need more than this apk, as well you need an Android wear smart watch, to emulate a CGM(continues glyclouse monitor) and github as well as the apk for the Android wear, the system operating program seem sound but the program itself is an unofficial apk making it more than likely to malfunction because it running on a different operation handlers that might not be licensed by Google or Android, and with an important purposes such as someones health at risk, I feel theres no room for mistakes even little ones that cause your phone to malfunction in anyway, i implore to you sir, to reconsider and take precaution when using this monitoring system, because it would be most unfortunate if the next bug crashes a more important action than just the icons, and further more i would only suggest trying to obtain an official cgm with the main and only directive is monitoring your glyclouse levels,I can't stress the importance of diabetes and its medical health procedures, I lost my father at the beginning of the year due to diabetes;its a swift and vicious condition not to take likely, especially for the reason to be moderately fashionable.I have been working on a android application for diabetics dedicated to my father labeled a way to "live" with diabetes,is mainly an health manual for diabetics, wouldn't been designing it if I really didn't take this subject serious,or atleast hold off on complete reliance on this apk until its been medically safe use, while readind its review i notice no me tion of that approval, sorry if i seem a nuisance and thank you for giving me the moment to voice my opinion, i wish you a lifetime of good health and good luck!

The app doesn't have anything to do with the actual reading of the blood all it does is allow you to get your readings from a constant glucose monitor without having to carry the monitor around with you and it has android wear also so the readings are pushed to your watch.I have been a diabetic for 35 years and I have a firm grasp of how to manage it.The same problems you can have with your phone you can have with the diabetic hardware. The app will never get approval from the cgm company they have been telling me for three years their android app is on its way and I am still waiting. The people involved in developing the nightscout/nightwatch/Xdrip apps have been doing so for years and have thousands and thousands of people world wide using their apps and the work they are doing have been published in every magazine and article regarding diabetics advancements known to man.It has been well covered and investigated and it works.I can understand where you are coming from but I havent had such great control of my blood sugars since I was diagnosed.

No sir i apologize for the small mindedness i dug deeper and found it, and educated my big mouth as for some reason my post which i edited shortly after it was posted I continued to proceed researching up on it found out how the apk played a part in the glyclouse readingd, but was really unsettled with a device made for telecommunications and media entertainment can possibly emulate something as important as a CGM, but guessthat to is small minded, are android smart devices really advanced over these last 8-9 years and this is the 21st centurywho am i to say what technology can and can not do, obviously you know how to handle these devices and willing to give these devices enough trust to help you aid you with your diabetes, then im glad i live in a day in age where we have all the assistance to live healthy, longer lives at the convenience of the palm of our hands! I love the future, sorry if i caused any distress for my pea brained blabbering, and wish you a long and healthy life.please except my sincerest apologies.and those facts in your about the CGM and the approval of the apk show you are very well knowledged in this and im glad we had this discussion for you tought me something new and very interesting and thank you for taking the time to walk me through it after my stubborn misunderstanding.very fascinating by the way!

I'm sorry I just looked over my previous post and I can see that it may have seemed like I was trying to be rude but I assure that wasn't my intention.I started typing and was on my way out the door and didn't realze how it sounded.I totally get what you were saying and I sort of figured you hadn't done a ton of research on the app so its cool. It's a pretty cool app and they just cracked the new cgm system and have android working on it so I may upgrade and use their new apk.I was trying to wait for the actual manufacturer to give me a ballpark on when they were going to release it but they are still telling me they are working on it.The new system is even better it makes it even easier to do now since the actual CGM doesnt need to be with you to get the readings it works over bluetooth I believe. They seem to have hacked the CGM companys code and modified it to work with android. There are a couple of guys from California I believe that are currently in the process of getting FDA approval for a bionic pancreas which is using the same code we are talking about and self adjusts for insulin delivery using the CGM to read your bloodsugars. It's pretty cool.
