To answer your question it might help if we had a little more information.
1) whereabouts in the world are you?
2) is there a particular network you want to use
3) contract, sim free or used?
4) what is your rough budget?
5) what do you want to do with the phone, games, facebook, photography, music, web browsing.... something else?
6) do you care about the size of the device
7) are there any features that you must/mustn't have?
Considering the fact that you’re looking for a budget phone, why not go for an Indian company Lava, They have pieces for price conscious peeps like you and their Lava A88 priced below 6k is a good option. Apart from the basic features, its allows you to multitask as well. Has 5MP primary camera and 2MP secondary camera clicks perfect pictures for you. Above all, the phone is 4G enabled and provides seamless experience of watching online videos. Along with it, it also helps to make HD video calls. If you could have provided more information then I would have been in apposition to suggest you with more models. Hope this helps.
@Satdev are they available in Australia? (not as a grey import)One of the reasons why budget devices can be so cheap is that they offer zero support for users.. And if they don't have proper support in Australia then id steer well clear.
I'm sure Lava is going to be a grey import for any country that isn't India. They are actually a manufacturer, rather than just imports from China. Same with Micromax.
