Stock Files: Deodexed & Unmodified ROMs, Recovery, Kernel

I still can't get to any kind of recovery at all. System and bootloader is write protected, ADB devices doesn't detect anything but the PC apps work fine. I got dang good Root and next boot everything crashed like a MoFo.. Started over. Got Root & Now on infinite bootloop. Gonna toss this device in the emergency heap, I'm done.

As far as I know nobody has figured out how to flash twrp and boot to it after. If flashify has the ability to reboot to recovery it might be worth trying after flashing twrp.
It seems that the reboot recovery just didn't behave in my device.. Gave me a weird dfu/bootloader mode and absolutely no stock recovery

Hello guys. I got here from searching how to root the ZTE Speed. I've gotten and wanted to root this device since last summer, I figured after all this time someone would have found out how to do so. Why I want to root it? Well this is basically my main phone for at the moment, (might get a new one soon), and I just want to have more space to have more apps installed. Seeing as this phone doesn't even use the SD card making it useless.

Anyways from what I see you guys have been on this process for a while now, can anyone simplify the process to a beginner like me. I apologize for not knowing much. I'm used to just tapping a button and having the phone rooted immediately.

Or has this reached an end and simply not worth the time anymore? Thanks for the time.

After playing around with it for the last couple weeks, I gave up and reflashed the stock recovery and wiped back to factory.

My findings: can get into stock recovery via flashify or reboot recovery. Can flash twrp via flashify but then completely locked out of recovery, via both flashify and reboot recovery. System folder not editable even with temp root. Temp root via Kingroot lasts a few minutes at a time and always gone after reboot.

I'm not new to rooting guys, but i am new to trying to root a device that has no root. I have a couple of questions.

1)I can get temp root with Kingroot (only about 5% of the time) i Get temp root with the newest version of Root Genius apk. Every time i get it though, all root apps like flashify tell me i don't have it, is there something i'm doing wrong.

2)in my first post i asked about rooting a stock rom and reflashing it. How about making a stock rom with a custom recovery already in it? Reflash the stock rom. Change permissions then flash supersu. Will flashing the rom fail because of checks?

Sorry i did not see the post that said only zte rom will pass check

3) Can you use the parts-mmblck file to create a scatter file and flash recovery through a tool like sp-flash tool

I know this seems like a lost cause but i enjoy messing around

Thanks

I have tried both suggestions you gave in that thread. Using Antutu and king root, i get kingroot to get root more times but things like root browser, root checker, flashify still say that i don't. Then i tried the kingroot app and the kingoroot pc app, but after the kingroot app finishes the kingoroot app gets to 43% restarts my phone then fails.

not sure if you have the newest kingroot apk version 4.9
you can download it here ---> https://androidmtk.com/download-kingroot-application

I got stuck at 43% like you before as well, but then i used the newest version and it work!...well temporary. I tried installing SuperSU, but its always failed.

i also tried the kingroot chinese version, and that didnt get me temp root either :/

I'm really interested in finding a way to root this...i bought this phone last week to mess with for $10 at best Buy (still on sale now), thinking it can be rooted. FML

...instead of using flashify to flash TWRP, try rashr# to flash twrp

flashify never work for me when i flashed twrp onto my lg fuel, but rashr# did.

to anyone,
should I flash 2.8.7.0 twrp onto my zte speed or the newest version? I'm willing to be a test dummy

oh yeah, everytime you do succefully get a temp root and the root disappear...from my experience you need to restart phone and re-do the process to get temp root again.

also if you want to get zte speed faster for now, go disable everything you can from setting --> app. *exclude google app, do not disable that, i did it and phone crashed, most likely due to the google search widget bar that cant be remove =.=*

then...if you want to remove bloatware, you can with kingroot.

sonny089, yes i have all the newest versions of kingroot and kingoroot, but even every time they pass and it says i have root, all root apps say i don't. I have only been able to get full temp root once. Kingroot app 4.9 fails 99% percent of the time. Root Genius apk passes all the time but root apps don't work and kingo pc app does it sometimes but root apps still fail

Thanks for the reply

just make sure if you use kingroot, after rooted successfully you want to open an app that need root access. Open it and wait for like 10 seconds for a prompt message from kingroot to allow root access permission to system. If it doesnt ask you, just exit app and reopen again because sometime it lag and doesn't pop up root permission prompt right away. When i got root access, i just went and open all my app that require roots and allow permission right away.

Also it might help if you go to kingroot to rootauth window/menu and set it to "allow"

if root not successful, just restart phone.
