Hello Everyone!!! Not sure how many of you guys will see this haha.

I just wanted to share something about the LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE from ATT for the people who are interested in this watch.

I just got this watch on Friday. I haven't even turned it on yet. The reason for that is because I am going to try to activate it on the Tmobile plan. I've read that this watch is unlocked so when I set this watch up I want it to read a tmo sim card first. I'm not sure if that will make things go smoother but call me cautious.

I'm really excited about this watch since it has everything I need (on paper). It has GPS, speaker and a big round watch face. GPS e essential to me since I like using Android wear for fitness and especially as a golf gps.

I have the Smartwatch 3 by Sony and all it is missing for me is a speaker. The SW3 is a great watch, IMO. However, I wanted a round android wear watch with GPS and speaker. The LG urbane 2nd edition has all of that plus a heart rate monitor and LTE. Those last two things aren't that important to me because heart rate monitors on android wear watches haven't been too accurate based on my experiences and LTE supported stand alone apps are scarce in the Android wear app store. However, those two things are nice to have though.

So for $360 retail price, I say it's a good gamble to take with all of those features and it being an unlocked device.

Once I get my service activated I will put this smartwatch to the test. Anyone who has already purchased and activated the watch, please feel free to leave me some tips!

Thanks everyone!

Just a quick update.

4 days of full use. Initial impressions are great!

  • Tmobile service runs fine with the ATT version.
  • Battery Life with the watch connected via bluetooth from my VZW Note 5 is really good. I get about a little less than 2 full days with medium use.
  • If I use the phone without it being tethered to a phone, I would probably get at least a day. I haven't really used it as a standalone device for more than a couple of hours. Still good for taking the watch for a run and the gym.
  • GPS is good but it takes a longer time to get your location when not tethered to your phone.
  • Speaker is ok for calls but you can use a bluetooth headset to answer calls or listen to music.
  • Call forwarding from phone to watch or vice versa works really good.

So I'm still testing this watch. I'm going to take it to the golf course over the weekend. This is one of the biggest reasons why I wanted a watch with GPS on it. The Sony Smartwatch 3 worked good but if I have always on screen on, it would not make it through a 4 hr golf outing.

So far, this watch is definitely worth $360 without contract especially if you compare it to the current AW smartwatches that are going for the same price or more.

IMO, it looks great and it has everything you can possible want and need in an Android Wear smartwatch. The size is definitely not for everyone but I do not think it's too offensive.

I was looking at that watch the other day after Verizon sent me an email about it, but was turned off by the retail price of $499.00 at Verizon
I have the Huawei watch now and like it, but have always liked the LG Urbane when it was initially announced a little over a year ago (1st version?).

Seems a tad cheaper with AT&T eh? wow.
Thanks for the input on it :)

Yup this watch or any Android watch isn't worth $499 with Android wear being so limited unless it's like decked out. I don't know what the heck Big Red is thinking. Hahaha.

I love my VZW service but some of the things they have been doing has me looking to go looking for alternatives.

Anyways, the watch itself is priced right at ATT based on what you get.

I wouldn't buy this if you do not use an Android phone. It's not worth the price tag. Android Wear is available to Iphones but it's super limited. Unless they updated it recently, you can't get messages or calls from your Iphone if you do not have it with you. No 3rd party apps either.

I'd maybe wait for the Gear S2 compatibility update with the Iphone. You might have better luck with IOS integration but I wouldn't hold my breathe for that one either.

I bought my wife the S2 and I love it too. I just like how the Urbane looks over the S2 but that's just my personal preferences. Tizen OS for the smartwatch is awesome especially the Gear S2! I think it beats out both Android Wear and the Iwatch in interface but I just wished there are more apps. I know there are more than enough on the Gear App store to accommodate most needs but more is still good. =)

It is a great watch - bought it before recall - just repurchased it from AT7T - BUT SAME INCOMPETENT LG -

- FACT: zero help or service - if your charger cable breaks - neither AT&T or LG sells a replacement charger cable -- AT&T had no replacment cable - nor are they going to carry anytime soon - unless lots of customers complain - /which ant likely/

DUMB ASS LG service person told me to go to Amazon - only cable was for original Urbane and that is not even a close fit - did not have cable for 4g lte! Good luck if watch band gets damaged. If no replacment parts are offered - how long before they pull plug on this watch again>

AMAZING!!!

  • Speaker is ok for calls but you can use a bluetooth headset to answer calls or listen to music.

I have a question about this. Every review I've read so far (although most of them were from last fall when it was first released) have said that you can't make/answer calls on the bluetooth headset, but have to use the speaker for that, and the headset can only be used for music.

Can you please verify this for me?

Thanks!

correct - it is the same watch released last November - it has an excellent speaker - loud enough to hear with lots of background noise

Does anyone know where to find an extra charger for this watch? I can't seem to find it anywhere!!
I bought this watch - no extra charger cable offered - LG is really really really bad - zero customer service plus stupid.
Have this watch - but using Samsung LTE Gear 2 Classic. Lacks features of LG 2 but zero customer help - Samsung is leap years better.

When you say 'correct' do you mean that you CANNOT use a bluetooth headset to answer/make phone calls? The speaker is good in most situations, but I'd like to still use a headset if possible.

Yes you can use a Bluetooth headset with this re-release and do not need to use speaker all the time. This isn't the same as the November release. As far as I have gathered, battery life when connected to bluetooth is improved, numbersharing/numbersync has improved and Bluetooth with headset on the watch is available.

You can check to see if it's the watch you have is a re-release or an old one that was refurbished if you look on the back of the watch and it has a date 2016.03. Also the model number, I believe it says 6xx7a or something like that.

And I agree, I would love to have spare charger. LG points you back to the carrier to ask for one but of course they do not have it.

I'm late to the party -- but was looking online at Verizon and it appears they no longer offer the Urbane 2nd Edition. LG still has it on it's website and a Chat with VZW online they say they don't have it. What gives??? Has it been discontinued???

It's still available from AT&T, but it has difference network bands so that model won't work with Verizon. From other posts I've read they are saying it was removed for 'hardware issues', with no specifics given, but it must be specific to that model only if AT&T hasn't pulled it.

If you setup numbersynch how do you bypass the phone from playing music. Specifically, I want to use GPS for runkeeper app while I go on a run and spotify app with Bluetooth headphones connected to Urbane 2. I want to leave phone at home then when I come back from run have the exercise synch to phone. Is this possible or do I need to take phone with me?

Streaming music apps don't currently work on Android Wear, so if you want music to play on your watch without having your phone with you you'd have to have MP3 files on your phone and then sync them to the watch from Play Music. It's a bit of a pain, but supposedly when Android Wear 2.0 comes out it will support streaming.

I have the LG Urban 2 -Glad I had insurance on L G Watch - be aware - caught in heavy downpour and later noticed watch screen was white. Removed back and water pad was red - water damage - sent back to LG - basically told me to drop dead. Out of warranty. The back of watch is difficult to close tightly with the silly plastic tool - me thinks when AT&T sales person put sim card in -difficult to determine when back closes tightly. Purchased Samsung S 3 Frontier - great watch and I shower with watch and does not kill watch. - Be aware L G Urbane 2 ant water proof! Plus L G has shown no interest in wearable's since they released this watch. I spend lots on watches and phones - none will ever be spent on LG products!
