Help Phone screen not always turning on

Hey guys, I've got a LG G3 and it's been damaged before, the screen had these lines going down it like a broken TV. I sent it off for repair and it came back all fixed and stuff, all good. Haven't really physically damaged it since then, and now about 8 months later, I flashed a new ROM to it (it's been rooted all its life) which was a official LG ROM, and after a bit the screen started doing what it used to (with the lines). I thought it may of been a software thing so I flashed a new stock android ROM. Now every now and again, when I turn the screen off, when I go to turn it on it'll flash on for a millisecond then will refuse to turn on. The touch screen still works, the phone works normally but the screen don't turn on. I have to pull the battery and then it will go back to normal. It's not always like this, but I know when its going to 'misbehave' because the brightness slider doesn't work (stuck on the lowest brightness) and the loudspeaker won't work (for music or phone calls or anything). It doesn't always happen but the phone seems to get hot when it does (although it's a hot phone anyway).
I'm 90% sure it's software related, although it could be physical damage. I rang up the people who fixed my phone last and they asked if I was using the original LG charger. I told them I'm using a samsung s6 charger snd they blamed it on that saying it damaged the IC Board, I believe that is what he said anyway. But I'm sure its not as if it doesnt damage a S6 then why would it damage my phone? Any help would be really appreciated because this phone is the only way of being online. Cheers guys! Any more details needed just ask.
