Peel Remote remorse

I went from the Note 4 to the S7 Edge, and I immediately felt like the phone was nearly perfect, until I relized no IR blaster. No biggie I thought, I just need to work harder at not losing the remote for the TV (I have Comcast). Well in the end, I relized that nobody works hard at losing the remote, it just happens.

In the past I just gave up looking for the remote and clicked on the Peel remote app to control the volume, or change the input setting (of course the remote always turns up later). I have Playstations and Rokus on multiple TV's, so the input button on my Peel remote or TV remote is used often, as well as soundbar and volume controls.

Is their any other alternative for Peel remote, or is it just wishful thinking until Samsung decides to bring it back?

But why?? Why the heck would they remove the ir blaster? is there any official reason for this? it is the 3rd most used thing in my phone, after, phone calls and messaging. I have a smart home and the amount of people upgrading their homes will only increase. I lock and unlock all the doors and windows, control lighting, heating and aircon, and even start my car.. all with the phone. And everyone else I know who has a S6 uses it to. Why on earth would they remove it??? ... who was the genius at Samsung that decided to remove it?? Deal breaker for me. Going back to the S6.
