5x Multitasking

Hi,

I'm trying to choose between the 5x and original Nexus 6. I was leaning towards the N6 due to the 3gb RAM, extra storage space, and QHD screen. But after seeing more than one video on YouTube where people compared the 5x and N6 side by side in various speed tests (as well as seeing how much better the 5x camera is in low light) I've gone back to favoring the 5x.

My primary concern is my day to day usage of the phone. I keep many apps open simultaneously and generally have 100+ tags open in Chrome. Does anyone else push their 5x similarly? How does it handle such multitasking? Does it get laggy and slow down or just keep keep running with similar speedy performance? It's really the 2gb vs 3gb of RAM that I'm not sure about for my particular usage. What have you experienced on this? The 5x certainly seemed snappy in the comparisons that I saw. But I'd truly love to hear how it handles multiple apps and many tabs in Chrome. Thanks so much. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

I, too, was originally going between these two phones. I was watching Swappa.com for the 64 gig N6 prices and the 32 gig N5X. I didn't want to pay the new price for the 5X. For me, what it finally came down to, was that a 5X came up on Swappa for $300. The only issue was that there was a tiny scratch on the back between the finger scanner and the camera. I really have a hard time seeing it, so I'm really happy with the purchase.

As far as my experience so far, I'm really happy with it. I have had some minor lag, occasionally. Mainly with chrome while browsing. I don't generally keep a lot of apps open, so I can't give you a comparison there. Really, I'm very happy that I got the 5X. I got the current generation of Nexus phone, at a good price (at the time I got it, it was a good price).

between regular 6 and 5x, 5x is without a doubt the winner imo. the 6 is super wide and many people found it annoying and have said "wow its a lot bigger than i thought it would be" - the specs are pretty similar and maybe youd like it if you want that phablet experience, but i like a simple phone that is good and can comfortably fit in my pocket and as a single guy who sometimes needs to use his phone with 1 hand, 5x is the best.

I know many people don't like the size of the N6 but to be honest that doesn't scare me off. My last two phones have been phablets and since I have small hands, I can't even manage to feel safe using a small feature phone one handed. So I'd totally be OK with the size. I almost never pocket my phone as I always carry a bag. I actually like the larger screen for my own use.

My primary concerns are how fast the phone will run when it's under stress with many apps and tabs open and which one will hold its value until the fall for the price I purchase it at. I'm hoping to sell whichever one I get to purchase the new Nexus device when it's released later this year. I'm just not keen on paying as much as the 6p currently costs when it's 6 months old. Otherwise, I'd be looking at it. I hope that makes sense.

I also have loads of tabs in chrome running, however I close them all at once when I reach 50. I have no big lag issues at all. And most of the times I did, just closing the app (via the lower right button and then swiping it away) fixed the laggs. Boot time is a minute or so, sometimes 2. But I have my phone encrypted.

The laggs are no issue, however the battery isn't the best when under heavy stress.

A little late to this thread, I know ..

I actually discovered that all the times I thought I'd closed tabs in the browser, it was actually keeping them open - turns out I had dozens tabs open and hadn't even realised. I'm guessing that means, it doesn't hurt browser performance too much
