How Uncommon is the 5X?

Just wondering if anyone has actually seen a 5X - other than their own - in the flesh?

I haven't. Mine is the only one I've ever seen. I've also never seen a 6P - or indeed, last year's 6. Not even in a store.

Thought about this because yesterday, I actually saw a picture of a model with a 5X in some story about Android and realised how unusual that is ..

I saw a 5X one day when I was working the Starbucks drive thru window. The customer paid with the Starbucks app. This was probably a month before I bought mine. It was the same way with the Nexus 4 and the 5's also; saw one or two because customers were using their app to pay for drinks.

A. I have never seen a Nexus 5 or Nexus 5x in the wild.
B. Finding a good quality case for a Nexus 5x in stores in Oaxaca is impossible.
C. I had my computer tech helping me with a problem and he used my Nexus 5 to call Telmex, my ISP and the phone company. When he ended the call he looked at me and said, "What is this? I like it."

I see them in stores, but never out and about. I'm sure with all the advertising Kogan and JB-HI-FI I'll see one eventually.

I know of only one person that owns one, and he's an on-line acquaintance. From all I've seen it's a fairly pedestrian phone, and such phones simply don't garner much attention.

I'm considering one, but I'm first trying to determine how prevalent are three of the most oft-cited issues with it: Is or becomes slow/laggy, poor battery life, and nearly zero water, or even moisture, resistance.

Haven't really noticed the slow/laggy or battery life issues and I ordered the phone the day it came on sale so I've had it a while now.

The water resistance thing is a pet peeve I have with almost all phones: how can something designed to be used outside be legally considered fit for purpose when a little rain could potentially kill it? The N5X seems no worse than other phones I've had in the past, though: I usually have it in the bathroom with me when I take a shower and it's still working - though can't say if the moisture detector has triggered, of course.

Otherwise, pedestrian as it undoubtedly is, I'm pretty happy with it: it does everything I need as well and as quickly as I need. As a bonus, it has some features that are way better than I'd expected: the finger print scanner is awesome and the camera is excellent.

The fast charge also makes a surprising amount of practical difference. For the first time ever, I don't need to leave my phone charging overnight - if I pop it on to charge when I come down in the morning, the battery's usually near enough full by the time I leave the house. And if not, I can connect it to my laptop (which has a Type C port) and it will charge in what seems like no time.

Finally, there are the now monthly Android security updates. Not sure how much more secure they actually make the phone, but it has to more secure than it would be with an O/S that hadn't been updated since the day I bought the phone.
