They use 2mm Titanium plate as part of Bulletproof vests. I was just being a little facetious. Do you know if those are stereo speakers on the bottom or is that just a design element?

Yes it's the speaker. Not sure if both side is. Maybe one is the speaker and another is just the design with mic.

I wonder how well the phone actually performs? Benchmarks don't really tell much.

EDIT: I see it also comes with a MediaTek processor instead of a Snapdragon. Will that limit dev support?

Yeah.. On the paper you'll get to see a lot but in real world performance everything matters. and i'm not really sure about vernee smartphones.
No, not actually. MTK do release their source code for custom development and vernee will have their own OS called VOS and will be available for everyone to customize it.

That's quite a U-turn, then. MediaTek have long been notorious for refusing to release their kernel source code, in direct violation of the Linux GPL.

Few people will be interested in developing for a niche OS used only by a single manufacturer.
