I need help getting my LG g stylo out of bootloop. It's a METRO PCS phone. Never rooted. Running lollipop i think. Cant verify that for sure because i cant do anything with the phone at the moment. Its just like it was when i bought it about 6 to 8 months ago. Besides various play store games/apps nothing else installed. No system tools or anything tweaked. It will only load to LG logo screen then reboots. I've tried booting into recovery mode by pressing volume down + power then wait for logo screen to appear, release buttons then push same buttons again, won't work. Loads to factory data reset when I try this step. So I go ahead and say yes to the factory reset yes to erase all data and when I select ok by pressing power button the phone goes right back into the bootloop again. I'm stuck here. Not sure what 2 do but know how to follow directions well if anyone can help I'd appreciate it very much. Thank u

There's really not much else you can do if you've tried a factory reset through recovery, so the only thing left to do is to restore stock firmware. Use the latest v10j firmware from MetroPCS

http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FWB0NXM232OKALOBF203P2V/MS63110j_00.kdz

And refer to this tutorial to help you restore back to stock!

Just use the kdz file for your carrier. The one in the first link above

Before I do that is there a reason that I can't access the recovery mode or another way to access it since the key combination(s) I've tried only let me access the factory data reset option?

This is because you can only do a factory reset and not wipe everything! I believe it's a new integration of Android security. You more than likely DID access the recovery menu, the only option you have is to factory reset. It's also to verify updates as well. I rooted and installed TWRP and tried to flash an official update.zip but it failed even when I restored the stock recovery. It's a weird new system, believe me I'm still getting used to it.

Ok well thanks again. I did contact LG and they told me my phone is still under warranty and to send it in. I probably will just do that. I wanted 2 fix myself just to gain the knowledge and experience and also instant gratification! Lol. Maybe I just need 2 leave it 2 the experts. Thanks so much for ur help. If I decide 2 fix myself I'll let u know the outcome. Thanks again

It's simple though, unless ya don't mind being stuck with a donor phone for 3 to 6 weeks: http://androidcreations.weebly.com/lg-g-stylo-update.html

Instructions:
This guide is for updating to the latest firmware with the option to root, or for unbricking your phone.

[*]Make sure to backup any photos or important files from your internal sd. This method wipes the internal sd to give you a clean factory phone.

[*]Optional - Do a twrp backup so that you can restore "data" only from the backup to get your user apps and settings back after updating or unbricking with this guide.
[*]Download and install LG drivers from HERE
[*]Power off your phone and wait 10 seconds
[*]Now go into download mode by holding "volume UP" and plugging the usb cable from your PC
[*]Download "LG Flash Tool" from HERE and extract it
[*]Download MetroPCS or T-Mobile v10J kdz
[*]Place the kdz inside the LG Flash Tool folder
[*]Now right click on "LGFlashTool2014.exe" and run as administrator
[*]Now select all the options in the pictures below:
[*]

[*]Make sure to select cdma as pictured above even if your phone is gsm. This tool is modified and that's how it works.

[*]Now the kdz will be flashed. Just let it finish and it will reboot by itself and then you're done.
[*]If you were rooted and had twrp recovery follow the guide HERE to get root and twrp back.

I did that. Won't do anything except continue the bootloop. Only thing I can access is factory reset data mode and even that just sends me back in the freaking bootloop after I choose yes to reset. I think it's safe to say it's unfixable. I don't see what the folks at LG can do besides provide me with a new phone if the software is unaccessable. Looks to me like that's the only option here.

OK thanks I will try that. 1 question: the usb charging cable that comes with a new phone, it's also a data cable also right or wrong? Or do I need to find a different cable to use? So far I've had no luck at all in getting my laptop to connect with my phone. I never tried b4 having this problem. I even downloaded LG PC Suite since this problem started and it still won't recognize my phone. It will power up (into the bootloop of course) when I plug into my laptop but that's all. No confirmation on the laptop that anythings been plugged into the USB port tho. Just curious if it may have something to do with the USB cable I'm using?

The usb cable that comes with the stylo is capable of this procedure of unbricking, if it is in good operating shape. The phone charging function from your laptop is usally a good indications of its condition.

With your phone not connected to your computer , remove all driver and device references to "LG" in settings or devices.

When this is completed
Then install these drivers to your laptop. When finished Cold boot your laptop.

Only After this is done , Connect you phone and let your computer find the phone and load its drivers.
This takes a minute or two.
When done check in device manager and you should see your device and its port information.

This should get you started in restoring your device.
Good luck and hope you are successful.
