Help [Official] OTA update thread

Did you buy the phone new? If it came from a T-Mobile account and then was reactivated on Sprint i can see where the update process would be confused and fail. You could try the OTA route, but OTA's are from one specific version to another. I would be wary of going from a T-Mobile version to a Sprint version with an OTA. I would recommend flashing the firmware from a factory image. From that point forward you should get the OTA's as long as you are stock and not rooted.

You are on a very old build - at that time, there were separate carrier variants. The newer builds are unified builds. So, you don't run into this issue with specific builds only for specific carriers.

From the URL I had provided you, it looks like you may be able to get to MRA58X from LYZ28N (I am not certain, but from what I remember, MRA58X was pushed out to only T-Mo devices - hopefully somebody will chime in and correct me if I'm incorrect).

I've always just flashed the factory images (requires unlocked bootloader, which, if you are not already unlocked, will result in a full wipe)
For ADB sideload - did you install ADB on your PC? If so, are you in the right directory when trying to execute the ADB Devices command?

Edit: see lunatic59's post above - I'd recommend that as well

I'm just gonna buy a t mobile sim and pop it in and see if the update comes then... sick of messing around with this phone and my computer with no avail.

I would be surprised if you immediately got notified of an available system update. You may have to keep the T-Mobile SIM in there for a few days for it work.

No guarantees, but I've seen two folks try this, and get the update right away (seen it in person at a T-Mo store - 5 or so minutes after a reboot). Having said that, I've seen at least one person for whom the update didn't show up at least for an hour (I didn't wait around)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
