Taking Video on G5 - button grayed out?

Hey guys, I understand, it should be really to take video or photos on the G5 - you jut press press little video camera virtual button. However, I found out that in many cases my camera button is grayed out and I cannot press it to start video recording. It happens in simple auto mode, nothing else.

Am I not doing it right? Is this an issue with the phone?

Thank you.

Not sure I understand, sorry, but Simple mode and Auto mode are 2 different modes. There is no "simple auto" mode, unless you mean "simple and auto" modes.
Anyway, I tried the "Simple" mode, and I have neither camera nor video icons:

But in "Auto" mode, I have both icons and neither is grayed out:

When you say, "in many cases" your camera button is grayed out, you mean the video icon and it doesn't happen all the time?

Are you using the stock camera app?

Sorry, yes I meant auto mode.
Yes I have photo icon lit white and camera icon grayed out. I can take pictures, but can't start video recording. Sometimes it works fine - meaning I can take video and sometimes it's garayed out in the same auto mode.
Hmm, that is odd.
Can you replicate it, or is it a random thing?
Like is the lighting too dark or bright or something that triggers the grayed out icon? Perhaps I can try the same thing to see if I can get the same result.

Ok, today once more I open my camera and video camera icon is not lit. I am in following settings:
Mode - Auto
Flash - Auto
Lens - wide (tried it with regular/narrow lens and results the same)
Camera - rear.

I wish I knew how to post my screen shot here, but I think I described my exact settings.

Why I cannot take videos whenever I want?

Not sure as I cannot replicate it, sorry.
But to take a screenshot, either press the power and volume down keys at the same time, or use the "capture" icon in the dropdown.
