I still absolutely love my N6. I'm not paid off until 7/31/2017 so I'll be using it for at least another year on VZW. After that, I'm not sure. I know I really don't want to step back to a 5.7" screen. I like the 6". I never want to leave Nexus again though. I'm giving serious consideration to Project Fi.

I got mine on amazon during their black friday deal for $199. I have much less of an investment in this phone and am looking to jump ship asap

So here we are only a few months away from the second anniversary of one if not the best Nexus phone ever, the Nexus 6 . I know many have moved on to the 6p, Nexus 5x and others to other phones including the iPhone (no hating) so how is everyone experience going with the 6???? Anyone planning to move on when the new models hit???
First off I won't be moving on. Unless something serious happens and my phone is destroyed. If that happens I am going to search high and low for another Nexus 6 <snip>

My sentiments exactly. My Nexus 6 is going just as strong as on day one. I've had it for just over a year. I am still running a Lolipop ROM on it as I didn't see anything about Marshmallow that made me 'have' to upgrade. Motorola shows that they still make a good quality device even with all the changes.

I had actually looked at the ZTE max prior before I got the six. I like the size, and thought it had a camera. Not really sure about anything else.
I have actually been quite frustrated with my Nexus 6 as of late. Today I installed the June security update, hoping they might have also fixed a few of the quirks I have been experiencing. The newsest of which is my phone wont let me turn off " Do Not Disturb " mode. I tried restarting the phone, tried setting an alarm and letting it go off to automatically end DND, but it wont turn off.

I am actually eyeing that ZTE Axon 7 hard. What a great phone all around, literally EVERYTHING I am looking for in a phone. I dont see anything wrong with that phone. My only concern, having zero previous experience with ZTE, is that im worried about how well they are going to be able to stay on top of updates... Anyone have any input on that?

The Note 6/7 is looking appealing, but since having my Nexus 6, a phone with front facing speakers is something that is a mandatory check box for me. With romors that the Next note is going to be water proof like its little brother, I fear the speaker will be equally terrible.

I switched to project Fi last November , my highest bill $80 something my lowest was $33. I have been very pleased with the service

I haven't seen a single device I would move too. The large screen and dual front speakers are a most now. I am dreading the day my Nexus goes dead. My wife is a die hard note fan. She works in a corporate IT setting and constantly uses her phone a note 2 and her work phone the note 3.

I have run into a few issues over the last few months. Most of them have been fix by cache wipes and installing various apps.
Our next phone purchase will be the note 6/7 for the wife
I think your question is worthy of its own thread. I'm surprised your post hasn't gotten more response. I'm only responding now because I don't check this forum as often as I should.

I've had my Nexus 6 for well over 6 months, now. I'm very happy with it. When I first got it, I flashed Pure Nexus, but have been slow to update it. I'm preparing to flash the June update soon. Anyway, I am very please with this phone and hope it lasts me a good long time.

My Nexus 6 is currently activated on Sprint SERO. All-in-all, I've been happy with this plan, but I recently switched jobs and barely get a signal in the office. My coworkers on other carriers complain about poor or non-existant signal, too, so I'm not terribly optimistic about a solution. I am going to give Project Fi a chance, just to test it out. I'm also going to look into flashing different modem/baseband to see if that helps.

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I'm also happy with my Nexus 6 accessories. Fast charge is awesome! I have a fast charger in my man cave and next to my bed, plus one in my car. I should really get one for the office, too. I put a tempered glass screen protector on, but will likely replace it at some point since I managed to get a few dust specs under it. I'm currently rocking a Spigen case and the Spigen Ring. I also have a Supcase with Flygrip attached to it, but I much prefer the Spigen/Spigen Ring combo. If it weren't for the added bulk of the Spigen Ring, I'd be in the market for a wireless charger.

I'm glad you're happy with your Nexus 6. I'm certainly happy with mine!

Did you guys see the specs leaked for the two 2016 Nexus devices? They look nice and I'm sure they'll be excellent performers... but again I'm going to say... a 5.5" screen? I *have* a Nexus device that is an excellent performer with a 6" screen.
I hear ya! I also have the Nexus 6 which it looks like I will be using for another year :(
Going to a 5.5 inch display is a deal breaker for me at least. Peeps like small displays, it is their choice. However, there are a lot of us that prefer the larger display. Oh well.......................

Unfortunately, I have to believe that these decisions are based on overall sales numbers. The 6" and larger screens seem to turn off some folks where 5.5 is some sort of maximum size sweet spot. Personally, I much prefer the extra size and don't find the form factor of the N6 too cumbersome, but it did take some adjustment in the beginning, especially coming from the N4 which seems tiny by comparison.

I don't think I can bring myself to go back to Samsung and get a Note, but I think the larger screen options are going to be very limited. :(

So according Google's chart for cut off for system upgrades it seems that come October of this year the Nexus 6 will cease to get any more major updates as far as Android O.S go. Now if I read everything right the Nexus 6 should still get security patches for a while. Sooner or later we are going to be moving on from our beloved Nexus 6, I will be putting it off as long as possible, that will eventually meaning rooting my device, I use to be concerned about voiding the warranty but I own my device outright and when I moved to project Fi from T-Mobile it voided the warranty. So now I am not so worried about messing something up and from I have read about Nexus you have to put some serious effort into messing up, bricking a Nexus device.

You'd pretty much have to either have such a confluence of factors as to screw up boot or do something deliberately dangerous/stupid. I can still put marshmallow on my N4 if I want to, and I'm sure someone will adapt "N" for it, just to see if they can.

FWIW, I did try marshmallow on my N4 briefly, but it wasn't a good fit so i flashed it back to stock lollipop.

Count me in this boat as well. Still love this phone, easily the most perfect phone that's ever been made as far as I am concerned (it ticks off the most boxes for my taste). I am curious to see what the new ones look like. I was not at all interested in the 6P or 5X I think they were both kinda ugly and neither would be an "upgrade" stats wise to me. Again just my opinion. That said, if the N6 had a fingerprint scanner and was a tad bit smaller and had expandable memory it would be 100% perfect - that's why it doesn't FYI since perfect don't exist :p. So I'll wait and see what the new crop look like (for REAL - I don't put too much cred in the "leaks"), I do at least trust HTC (I don't Huawei) and I hated the design language of the LG built 5X so no brainer not to trade out in 2015. Fingers crossed there's some secrets yet to tell.

If I don't get a "new" Nexus I will probably look for a 64GB N6 - I never thought I'd want the space but being able to carry movies and some music when I travel is nice, and I've had to use the expandable storage on my wife's note edge - and I hate Samsung. (no offence)

Well it's been four months since anyone posted anything around these parts, so here we go. Recently we learned Google officially cancel the Nexus line and replace it with the Pixel line. Now I have read and seen people talk about it. Claiming it's still Nexus phones and tablets, the name just changed, that pixel is Nexus perfected.
Since the Nexus 6 hit the market four other Google phones have come out. The two devices launched in 2015 and the Pixel devices launched this year. Before my Samsung Galaxy S3 decided to up and die a few years back I was the type who wanted the news phone , the shinny new toy. Well after the S3 I got the Nexus 4 as a replacement (I got two) the first one didn't work and the second one had unfortunately encounter with water and yes I tried the rice in the bag, in fact I did it twice, sadly I had to say goodbye to the Nexus 4. Even though my time with it was short I became a huge fan of the Nexus line.
So for Christmas in December 2014 I got this clear case which turned out to be for a nexus 6
My wife order it in November and I officially powered it up in January of 2015. So I am few months away from my second year anniversary with it. As I wrote above there was a Time when I wanted the newest phone on the market. After I got my Nexus 6 all other phones simply couldn't compare. I had found my perfect phone. I loved the size, dual front speakers, even the camera I liked. Google drop the ball alot with the Nexus phone line. Selling it only online or through select carriers (Nexus 4 T-Mobile and now Pixel through Verizon,) Google seem to nail it with the Nexus 6. It was sold online and all the carrier's had it. Now if you want a Google phone your choices are the playstore, project Fi official website and lastly Verizon. I simply haven't like anything Google has released in the last two years. This month was supposed to be the last month of official support for the Nexus 6, after October no more security patches and no major system upgrades or updates in other words don't hold your breath for Android O. I really can't complain I went from jellybean to the current version of marshmallow and before the end of the year I should have Android N.
Yes my Nexus 6 came with jellybean, it was explained that some tech somewhere had probably been working on it installing all software and probably run some beta test too see if the phone would upgrade to newer version of Android, well apparently the test was never completed. The T-Mobile store representative went and within minutes had lollipop install and my phone up and running. So I had jellybean less than a day.
So as it looks now November or December will the final time the Nexus 6 gets any support. Does that mean I toss the device and move on?? Of course not. My wife's note 2 stopped receiving updates in 2014 and it wasn't till last year that the first serious problems started to happen, nothing a factory reset, cache portion wipe couldn't fix, than 2016 rolled around the problems increase until the phone was lasting two hours before the battery was drained and even replacing the battery didn't help. So what did we do?? We replaced a really great phone with a potential time bomb, yes she got the note 7 and yes she got the replacement device now she has to decide what phone to get
I figured if she can hold on to the phone for almost four years, than I should be able to make it through the rest of 2016 and 2017,minus any major issues or problems. My Nexus will go down swinging. After its no longer reliable as my daily driver, I will retire it to the kids. That has been another bonus I have lost track of the times I have put on a movie for them watch and it had keep them occupied. So there it is still going strong with the Nexus 6

I agree whole heartedly.
Plus, it's a Nexus - you should be able to "update" it via new ROM's for at least a few more years. You should never have major security issues. The Nexus community lives on.

I love my N6 and will continue to use it until i can't or until somebody makes something I am as excited by as much as I still am this phone. As you said, this is as close to perfect as has ever been made in my opinion.

Ditto.

I got mine right around release day and I took advantage of the discount when bundled with the Moto360. The 360 has gone to the great tech dump in the sky, but my N6 is kicking the Energizer Bunny's fluffy little tail.

A couple of points about the N6. This was the first Nexus made by Motorola. This was the first Nexus that went up against other flagship phones. And (I think) this was the first Nexus that was a single model for all carriers. I know the carriers did muck with it a bit, but it was usually just a decal and a partition.

My only concern is what happens when the battery stops charging. Motorola is not known for ease of access on sealed devices.

Purely opinion here.

The Moto Nexus 6 is the pinnacle of the Nexus devices and I can see no reason to get rid of mine. And Pixel? Seriously? From a bad ass Blade Runner reference to a Disney Pixar reference?

Not opinion here.

I have ZERO concern about it losing official updates. The ROM community has some pretty old devices using current software. The N6 will live on for YEARS. With current operating systems. With current security patches.

My wife also had a Note 2 that was awsome for many years. It's only recently been relegated from daily driver to an MP3 player in the kitchen. I've had a Galaxy S5 for a while now which has been awsome, well ever since I rooted it and flashed Cyanogenmod. I'm a bit disappointed with the massive price increase of Android phones, I simply can't justify the expense of a Pixle phone or an S7 at present so I've cast my net around. After deciding that the most important thing for me is battery life I've decided to go with a Moto Z Play.

Shame there's no midrange Pixel phone [emoji26]
Also what a silly name "Pixel" they need to have a word with the branding department.
