Use 'BackUp' to back up your KODI settings

I've had my box for about 5 weeks now. It's one of those cheap ones that promises the earth and delivers it... usually!

Each day, I turn off my KODI app on my TV box, then press the power button to put my box into 'stand-by' mode. (Red light.) I then switch off the wall socket.

Today, I turned on my box only to see the screen say something like:

"Preparing Android TV for use. Please wait..."

After about 3 or 4 minutes it thankfully booted up... but it had re-installed the KODI 15.2 version.
(Well, the boot splash screen said 15.2... but in settings it said 16.1.)

It was a pain but again, I had to uninstall the program and reinstall the latest version, 16.1.
Once installed it was a simple matter of installing the small backup program and restoring all my old shortcuts and favorites, etc.

You should definitely use the backup function.
It will save you a lot of grief if you have a situation like I did.

Version 17 of KODI is upon us, but if you (like me) have a box running Kit Kit you won't be able to upgrade.
The new version of KODI is for boxes with Lollipop or above. :(
