Accessories Car Mount Nexus 6P

I'm using ProClip and really like it (though it is a bit expensive). It is a two piece mount, you buy one part that attaches to your car, then a second piece that holds the phone. I bought a piece for my car that mounts just below and at the right side of my car's audio touchscreen, and then this universal holder for my 6P (they don't have one specifically for the 6P yet).

It holds the phone securely and my phone is in a perfect position to see while driving.

I would suggest an RFID tag attached to your mount which keeps the phone unlocked, dont want to be worrying about unlocking your phone when driving!

I unlock the phone right after I mount it. Then I start up Waze. I almost always use Waze while driving. The only thing I use my phone for while driving is Waze, music and answering phone calls. My car has BlueTooth and the music automatically starts playing the moment I start up my car. I then select my destination in Waze and then start driving. Controls on the steering wheel and stereo allows me to control the music volume and answer calls. I don't make calls or send messages while driving. When I pick up my wife, I use a feature in Waze that automatically sends notifications to my wife's phone when I get close to her.

If you have a CD port that you do not use, then this universal mount is pretty great:

I have used it for both my Nexus 6 and 6P. It is one button on the back to release the phone, and all you do is place the phone and the button in the middle of the mount automatically closes secure on the phone. They may also have a suction cup variant.

I use a steelie magnetic mount. Absolutely love it. I also travel frequently for business and purchased a Steelie vent clip to use while traveling.

Wanted six (multiple cars and used 2 for nexus 7 tablet) of the mounts so ended up sourcing them out of China.

Has anyone found a good way to mount your phone on the dash?

I had the iOttie Easy One Touch http://amzn.com/B007FHX9OK for my N5 and N4 but the 6P just doesn't fit the way it was designed. I can force it in with two hands, but it's nothing you can do while driving.

I know this is coming months after you posted, but by now you've probably found that hottie makes two other mounts that are larger than the one you have. They both work fine with my N6P, and you get the great stability of the window mount, and the cool push in and grab feature.

Well, you have had this a few months now... Any further impressions you can share? Any problems with the phone falling? Is it difficult to remove and most importantly to me, does it scratch the case?

I was going to post the steelie as my favourite, and was pretty pleased to find that someone else already has. This is by far the best mount I have ever seen. This is btw, the third phone I have used it on.

The only drawback is having a piece permanently (with double sided tape) stuck to the back of your phone. Personally this does not bother me, and makes it easier to grab it off a table.

Seeing as it's stuck on to the phone, you need somewhere smooth to stick it. Which means that cases can be a problem. My first phone I was able to stick it to the case, my second phone I had to cut a hole in the case, and my case has not arrived for my new phone yet. Obviously your dashboard needs somewhere smooth to stick the base to as well.

The magnet is strong enough that the phone will not fall off, when you remove the phone you can feel the magnet's grip strength. Trust me, it's solid.

My one piece of advice is to mount the piece on your phone off-centre so that gravity will keep the phone oriented the way you want it. It also matters where the base will be mounted. If the base is mounted on a horizontal surface, then put the phone bit near the middle but off centre. If the base will be on a vertical surface, put the phone bit near the edge. Basically the mount will be the pivot point, so think about what angle you want the phone to hang.

My one complaint about it is that I think it overpriced for what it is, and I was very pleased when I found a knock off at my local electronics store.
