hi...
i have the problem of battery drain in 2 hours after i had updated it to 2.3.5 three days ago...the phone gets quiet hot even in stand-by mode...
no background application is running. wifi is also off...
plz give me some solution...
i m using Samsung Galaxy SII
Hello, I have a Samsung S2 Galaxy with a similar problem to yours. I tried fitting a new battery, but this did not work. Recently, I received an invitation from the Internet to download Mozilla Firefox, and I did download it. The phone was originally working on Google browser. After I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox, this is when I started to get problems with my battery draining rapidly over about three hours with the phone switched off. I did the following: went to "settings" then selected "application manager" then I uninstalled "Mozilla Firefox" now the phone is working perfectly and is completely back to normal. I hope this may help you.

Hi there.
I had the same problem recently.
The phone would get very hot and the battery would drain very quickly even when I wasn't using the phone. I changed the battery, but the problem persisted.

I noticed that the media app was using a lot of battery and I couldn't stop it

I also noticed that the problem arose fairly recently after I had started to use free anti virus software app from AVG..especially when it kept trying to get me to upgrade to the Pro version.

Solution. I un-installed AVG pro that I had on trail and the problem was solved.

No factory reset was required.

The battery now lasts all day long.

To make the battery last longer:-
1. Drain the battery 100%
2. Charge it with the phone off
3. Switch it back on and let it charge to 100%
4. Switch the phone off and repeat step 3.
5. Your phone should be okay now
6. Remove as many apps that you don't need.

This hopefully will make my phone last a bit longer. :)

I'm having exactly the same problem. Worked fine for 4 months then a week or so ago the battery is dead after 6 hours.

I've not changed anything, no background apps running, no change to the background.

Update,

Today I reinserted my 32GB micro SD card to see it this caused any problems. The battery drained a bit faster but not as bad as before.

I have just reinstalled Daily Roads Voyager DRV, and moved it from the SD card to the device storage, and guess what, my phone switched itself off....so I have moved it back and all seems to be fine...at the moment

Maybe this was the culprit and not AVG?....

Now when I think about it..I remember some months ago when I used DRV in my car (without the USB charger connected) that the phone was V hot....will investigate further.....

Right, my phone has just turn off and the battery went down by 25%...so Daily Roads Voyager has been removed, lets see what happens now....

Okay, My phone switched off So its definitely the DRV app thats causing the problem....just removed it so mets see what happens now...

UPDATE
I have done all the above and the phone was fine. I reinstalled the 32gb Micro SD card, and the problem started again!! ARRRR.
I have just taken that card out, cleaned the terminals with a cotton bud and put it into my back up Galaxy Y phone. The original 32Gb card from this phone was then put into my S2. All seems to have settled down and the problem appears to have gone away?...will keep you posted if it hasnt!!

i have owned my SGS2 for 2 months. battery life has been ok, depending on usage. suddenly, from one day to another my batteries don't last anymore at all. go from 100% TO 0 in less than 4 hours. i at first thought the battery was defective, but my spare battery has the same problem! It's crazy! there's no background apps, the display brightness is turned down, i checked everything i can think of. once i just had the fully charged phone sitting there, at work. send 2 text messages and 4 hours later it was drained! without using it!!!! Help!?
I've had a SGS2 for about 4 years. It seemed ok at first but then the battery started draining too quickly even when I put a new one in. Then I bought an extender battery and that was ok for a while but then recently any battery I used was draining too fast. I now turn of my wifi and deactivate my data network mode when I'm not using it and the result is remarkable. It is couple of days since I charged my phone now and it is still going. Am still using an extender battery but no doubt it would still be a lot better even with the normal one.
