Ahhhhh oops my bad I'm tired and misread that I'm sorry. You would be correct in that it's possible, and Im sure it works great on the PC install of Android and with it being KitKat too there's allot that's different about this situation. Like how the bootloader sees the modified file and stuff, right here is the closest anyone's come to rooting this phone so in all reality we don't know what could work and what couldn't

Yeah I was just throwing stuff out their, but even a idiot could patch su binary in and flash if instructions were given, alot easier(and dirtier) then building a recovery or kernel, since you only need to add a file or two in the right spot on the system, but I'm not willing to try as this phones is my home internet for the time being. If someone feels like giving it a shit, make sure to factory reset the phone first to remove the encryption and pull the clean system before messing with it.

Also not recommending anything unless we have a way to restore,in case of a fukup if your s die hard, or your only point is to mess with this phone till it gets root go ahead, but if it's your daily driver don't try my stupid ideas, at least till someone proves it can work, at that point there IMG will be a prerooted one anyone should be able to flash, the prize for being a guinea pig means either a f'ed up phone or being able to be the 1st with root and sharing a prerooted IMG

So just building a kernel when we have both sources it's just a matter of throwing some commands using the Android SDK and waiting then we have a kernel we can flash that will allow us to get root, then we can pull the recovery and build twrp/cwm for it opening up everything
I don't care how this phone gets rooted, this isn't like the old days as long as we have root when can flash recovery via flasify, took years to make a app that could flash everything with out recovery but it exists now, not saying that being able to flash without root isn't preferable since you have a lower chance of bricks, but fastboot, Odin, lgup are all optionally at this point if they don't exist it won't stop phones from getting recovery.

I dont think we have access to pull anything, thats the whole goal, and our current problem. Thats y i was upset about our 9008 in edl mode. Had it worked correctly, we would have a full dump. We have access to flashing an image but not pulling it. If someone posts the commands ill give it a go though, but i dont think so

Wed need to find a stock image though which I didn't see when I looked around. So unless there's one soon somewhere obscure online it looks like we'll need to pull the image to do it that way. Which we can't right now. So as of right now, we need someone to take our kernel source and that auto root source and build an auto root for us. Only option with what were working with

Paragon did say that we had access to update tar files for zte(where?), they could be decompressed and edited, that should work right? If I remember correctly you can build a img from those packages, but would we have to insecure sealinux for this to work? I have no clue how to do such things, just asking

That's what I'm getting at is if the stock firmware is out there (which I've always been able to find it for other phones but then again I've never had to help get root in the first place on those phone's) then we find it it'll open doors. But if it isn't it's our duty to get it pulled in the first place
Oh sorry, I misread? Any way to talk to zte support and BS being a cellphone repair shop and asking to get the firmware and tools to fix and prepare the device for resell?

And have you guys find fastboot properly? I know we can send adb commands to it and it responds to them as well so adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot fastboot and at the splash screen while it's booting is the moment it can communicate with fastboot. My PC crapped out or I'd be checking myself. Actually has anyone tried adb shell and then typing SU? We can mount system and use adb pull to try and pull the recovery and whatnot out

As far as I know, fastboot doesn't exist on this phone, and adb is nerfed won't run any su commands or we would have root, I thought we could pull IMG's via adb but others say it's not so.
