Koki, don't do that! You scared the heck out of me and I don't even have the Note 7.

I just came in from working outside with exhaustion setting in, wearily read AndroidMax's post then scrolled to yours, and it felt like it was for real. Checked my Note 3 and my shorts - all was good! LOL

I was able to return the Galaxy Note 7 for a full refund this weekend - AT&T Store.

It took some internal store escalation but once they realized how messed up this whole situation was, it was easy....I had to fight against a $45 restocking fee.

Never again Samsung+Google+AT&T, or whoever!

What a total cluster of blatant FU life hacking this phone was....WOW!!!

I feel relived beyond words to escape from this nightmare!

lol, I was thinking the same thing. I forgot that my mother has an S7 that's the same color as my Note 7, not that I'm going to swap out the phone. I'm going to return it and stick with my Note 4 for a little white. I was already on the fence about going back to Samsung, but this pushed me over the edge (no pun intended). I'm not really hurting by going back to my Note 4 for now. I may jump on the V20 when it comes out. But if I did decide to swap out, I may consider going with the blue, which was my original choice. The silver pulled me in at the last minute just because I thought the blue would be trivial.

It may be good safety practice if contemplating on sticking with the Note 7, or any cellphone for that matter, to charge it on non-combustible surfaces and at least 2 feet away from combustible materials if at all possible. For example, granite countertops, tile floors and if these aren't present then save a metal tin or similar container to put your phone in overnight or while charging where a fire can be contained.

This may be a wake up call to respect cellphones with potentially life threatening Li-ion batteries and place them in safe places. Certain aftermarket accessories such as cords or charging equipment are probably your worst enemy.

I ended up exchanging. Not because I was afraid, but because Verizon is only honoring the worry-free exchange through September 30th. I want the improved Note 7 when it is eventually released, but for now I have the s7 Edge.

Returned my Note 7 today, for a refund, with the "intent" to still get a replacement. That said, I bought a Microsoft Lumia 950 XL for very cheap, used, which looks brand spanking new. I'm actually really enjoying this phone, even though it has the Snapdragon 810 in it. That said, since this phone is working out better for me than I originally thought it would, I will probably wait until there are some great holiday deals on the Note 7 and swoop it up at that time. Great thing is, the urgency for me to get a replacement Note 7 isn't there, like it was before. I still intend on buying a Note 7 again, but considering all the backlash, I'm really hoping that people end up staying away more than Samsung anticipates. That also means giving up my Jump On Demand, but I'm realizing how much I don't really need that, once I have a device that I really enjoy having. The Note 7 is definitely in that category, but seems less attractive to pay the $849 retail.

Won't you have to do your S7 edge as a trade in for the note 7 then? I believe Verizon is only offering to exchange the note 7 for the S7 or S7 edge. Then the deal is done.
You can exchange the Edge (or whatever) for the fixed Note 7 (when it's released) with no fees as long as you make the switch to the Edge (or whatever) before September 30th. The lady I spoke to made sure and copy and pasted the rules into my account because their program is different from what I read on the Samsung web page. I thought I had to get a J-series phone, but she said no. My intention is definitely to get the Note 7 when they fix it.

But, I didn't get any $25 gift card or credit to my account, either. She said that if I bought accessories for the Edge replacement phone, then I would have received a store credit of $25 to cover that.

It is ridiculous that SAMSUNG is not handling the recall process in a uniform manner. There should be a huge class action lawsuit here. And I am not one that likes all these lawsuits people throw around these days. But this is not being handled right by Samsung. Verizon either, and likely many other carriers. In the end though SAMSUNG should have a uniform recall process that does NOT involve having to go through so many mixed answer hassles from the carriers. This is a cluster bleeped mess and if it wasn't for the fact that the Note line of phones is by far the best for my uses, I would dump SAMSUNG over this. Handle it right SAMSUNG. This isn't even remotely close to being handled right so far.

My refund process was actually fairly flawless. I don't know if it's because I purchased on T-Mobile Jump On Demand or what, but I followed up with Customer Service and they verified that my credit for the 1 payment that was scheduled to process on Wednesday (with my Monthly bill) will be credited on the 15th. On top of that, I asked the representative if they're giving the $25 credit for the inconvenience of the whole ordeal and after a short speaking with his supervisor, promptly credited my account while on the phone with me.

All that said, I really wish Samsung would've handled this better. It's so unfortunate, as the Note 7 is such a great phone (aside from the battery defect). What I really wish would've happened is that they allowed for those that ordered the phone early, to receive a discount when they get a replacement.

Now, since I found a phone to use for work, I'm actually not as anxious to get back into a Note 7 and may just wait it out until Samsung discounts the Note 7 by 100-200 bucks. At that point, the Note 7 will still be 650-750, but that's much easier to swallow than the $850 I was about to doll out over 18 months + cost of buyout in the end.

The fact that the recall process didn't seem to have an organized plan, to get revised devices into the hands of existing Note 7 owners...that's mind boggling and I've seen countless mentions of how people have been okay with the S7 Edge and not really wanting to get back into the Note 7 anymore. Well, at least Samsung saved me from spending right now. Crossing my fingers that there'll be some good deals near the holidays.

It kind of sounds like a lot of people are saying, ehh, you know what, that lesser phone that was new 6+ months ago - I'm ok with that after all. That is what Samsung, Verizon and the various carriers are hoping for. People just saying, ohh, we get an S7 instead? Ohh great, thanks! Nope, not gonna cut it with me. Even if the S7 was a BETTER phone, I would still demand that I get an actual safe, working model of the phone I paid premium for. Hey, you wanna give me an option for another phone - ANY other phone, OK. Give the OPTION. But right now the way they are handling this is shuffling sheeple into other phones when they actually entered contracts or payment plans for a NOTE 7, not an S7, or Lumia, or whatever else they are trying to shuffle sheeple into being "OK" with. It is about money, plain and simple, and if they can shuttle people into lesser phones when they actually paid for and wanted a newer NOTE 7, then win, win for them.

This whole recall process is a scam. For a couple weeks now they have known about the recall, in that time they could not figure out a uniform recall process for CURRENT Note 7 owners?? You know, the ACTUAL people who have a possibly dangerous phone in their hands?? Nope, that is not what is the most important to Samsung or the carriers. What is the most important is making those million+ people who actually bought a brand spanking new Note 7 be forced/nudged/ushered into accepting an older, lesser phone instead of the NOTE 7 THAT THEY PAID FOR. Like I have said in other threads, there should be a very large class action lawsuit here, but it appears a lot of people are going to roll over and take whatever puddin' is given to them, even if it is made of sand and gravel with 6 month old rotten milk.
