Help Lose network frequently.

@ZMAX4EVER ; the majority is always silent and this might not even be phone specific.
I've been on T-mobile before and I had been getting better reception in the same areas(my college). also an odd thing is that until a few ago I got 5 bars in my bedroom and suddenly, I'll be lucky to get 2 bars. It might be a software issue affecting the way the phone connects to towers in certain areas. There might be a fix for it, ill look into it later when this annoys me enough. But for now ive noticed it kills the battery faster regardless of it being on 2g or lte.

I don't know what to say other than it doesn't seem like a majority having these problems. My phone works perfectly, no network issues at all. So, it isn't a design flaw with the phone, perhaps a few defective units? Everyone I know who has this phone absolutely loves it.
It is enough complaints... Who knows, maybe different factory shifts / factories...
I'm leery of a replacement with some fix and/or update that makes things worse(locks down other stuff).
Also not looking forward to reinstalling everything again, no matter how easier that is these days.

There's plenty enough wrong with this phone; any patch regardless of breaking something else would be fine with me.

I wonder what is involved with testing on these phones before they release them for sale.... If they even go beyond powering on and watching it lock on a signal.

They just aren't that thorough, or lack major resources.
The original ZMAX had code throughout, with the name of other phone models.

Maybe we need to cut them slack & give them props for trying in such a cutthroat field... given the fair pricing.
But they just don't realize how much easier their job would be if they unlocked / unleashed legions of free mercenaries.
They just can't be that dense - they must be worried about the using of others' code.

Or maybe it's like in the stereotypical Chinese food joint: a handful of underpaid, overworked coders in a small, dingy space... with ancient, threadbare equipment... dysfunctionally screaming at each other.
Someone at Xda had reported finally reaching someone on the phone in China, and just getting screamed at.

Perhaps there are some ZMAX PRO's out there with issues... but I'm not having any that I'm aware of. I'm not having network loss, not missing calls, etc. Everything on my phone works great. The only issue I have is with design: the earpiece and speaker should be better quality (louder).

Have you considered exchanging your phone?

I also haven't had any networks issues, I live in NYC for the record. I haven't had any issues at all actually except some weird artifacting in games when I first got the phone which I haven't seen in weeks for some reason.

I asked my friend who also owns this phone if they've had network issues and they said their Pro has been pretty much perfect. Maybe some units are just defective? I wouldn't be surprised if the QC on this phone was poor to save in costs considering all they try to give you for 100 bucks. It's a shame it's not working out for some people.

I'm also nyc.

I was about to poll the cities of the "troublemakers".

Your info is helpful for me - less of a chance an update would fix - I'll try an exchange.

Looking for an answer, I read something about doze. I disabled the battery optimization for com.android.modem.service.
So far it's working for me.

Waiting on Surface Phone Baby... October...

Multiple Users + docking station + 8gb/512gb = throw out all tablets n laptops & zmax can be the router if it behaves properly.

It sounds like a good idea, but Microsoft would need a miracle to make any type of meaningful impact within the phone market. Most people I know actually hate Windows as an OS, I'm not sure if they want to deal with it on their phone as well. Windows Mobile was a disaster, Windows Phone was a disaster... so we'll see if this new incarnation has any impact.

That phone is being released in 3 versions come October.
I HAVE to use some Windows progs, + phone could replace my tablet n laptop... that would help a lot.

Yes, windows was a clusterf* of changes & re-reversed changebacks from 7 to 8 to 10 on computers alone... never mind phones...

I'll give a chance to a gadget that can potentially replace several... Schlepping around a lot less, and with that storage space + multiusers can combine personal, school and work data spread out on several units.
Backups will be a lot easier too.

Tried it, and my phone still loses network. Trying it again after doing a reboot, we'll see.

This phone seriously should have come with 5.1.2 installed. It would have been fine except for a little bit more battery consumption. Gotta love Google. The moment they optimize an OS, they push another one loaded with bugs. #Why....

Still working, in and out of subway.
You can't crow victory half a good day after a bad month and a half...
BUT... I'll bet money- seems like the fix.

It is encouraging, though. Only one disconnect last night.

More folks should try this, it can't hurt... plus can be readily reverted.

I think yknujssab is onto something, and maybe we can also try:

1. Other semi related...

2. Ditto for any that could affect -
volume
alarms / sleep / lock / fingerprint / whatever else has issues

It's a lot of stuff, maybe too much.
For quick proof of concept, I'm going to first mass disable all com.xxx... Battery Optimization...
since reset all to default is available.
I can't do it right now though.

I did have one disconnect last night, it even disconnected wifi. I'll also go thru the optimization list and disable more stuff. I'll report back when I do.

So far today I haven't had to toggle airplane mode yet....

I find it ridiculous that MM has everything set to utilize battery optimization, and no way to tick "select all" and just kill it altogether instead of spending 45 minutes individually stopping every app from using BU. Unless there's a way to kill the doze process off. Oh wait. That's probably greyed out in app manager..

There may be a few different RIL battery optimization operations to stop before this issue is fixed.
