Root [AT&T] Cricket / AIO SGH-I337Z (jflteaio) TWRP 2.7 Recovery

Ok - so I'm having some issues after attempting to flash Goldeneye GE v51.

Steps:
1) Booted into TWRP recovery, installed GE v51 zip.
2) It launches the aroma installer meu and I go through the prompts, choosing at&t safestrap as my first option.
3) I skip the kernel installation.
4) When finished I uncheck "reboot device now" so that I can flash the ne2 modules.
5) I flash ne2 modules, then reboot system.

Once I reboot, it tries to reboot but then seems to fail and simply reboots again into twrp menu.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Looks like I'm getting a little further - If I change step 3 above to install the first kernel during the aroma installation (instead of skipping) then I can boot up into the rom.

However it appears wifi isn't working. It simply won't allow me to toggle wifi on. Has anyone gotten the Goldeneye lollipop roms (or any other lollipop roms) to work the cricket s4?

So I found this awesome rom, exactly what I'm looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/development/rom-google-edition-s4-t2837239.

It works flawlessly for a while. However a couple hours later wifi breaks and stops working.

I followed the instructions here:

1. Reboot into Safestrap Recovery
2. Wipe X2... Advanced Wipe... everything X2 except extSdCard
3. Install... The newest version of the ROM
4. Install... ATT (...base..) Modules.zip (to fix wifi) from" HERE
5. Install... UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip (to keep root) from" HERE
6. Reboot let ROM sit for 5mns
7 Press Power Button, DO A HOT REBOOT
7.1 More INFO about Installation Instruction go over"

Except I flashed from TWRP and in #4, I installed the ne2 modules you posted.

Any thoughts? Does safestrap work with the cricket gs4? I had it installed a couple weeks ago but never could get it working well.

One last post for anyone else out there that is trying to flash custom roms on a cricket/aio wireless S4.

I flashed this GPE rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/development/rom-google-edition-s4-t2837239

And its working great. Turns out wifi breaks everytime I perform a normal restart, however if I then run a "Hot restart" then wifi magically works again.

Not sure why hot restart will fix wifi, but I'm not complaining. There is also some weird behavior going on with the microsd card - where the phone will randomly vibrate when I view pictures stored on the microsd, but I can seem to manage that ok.

Would love anyones thoughts behind the wifi/microsd issues.

Ok, I feel like a complete idiot having to ask this, but, how do I ROOT my (Cricket) SAMSUNG-SGH-I337Z??? I see the exact same question on a dozen different forums, but, no answers. This recovery needs a rooted phone, and, everyone in this thread seems to have had no trouble with that. THEY'VE got a rooted phone, but, Kingo root, Towelroot... everything fails, saying that my phone isn't supported. Ever since Cricket changed to the LTE network, I was forced to get a compatible phone and I stayed with the GS4 because my last GS4, also from Cricket, was such an easy root. Every forum I've asked this question in has told me to use Kingoroot or Towelroot but I'm beginning to wonder if the new Cricket phones have even been successfully rooted yet, Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I am sorry to tell you, but you waited too long to come over to the new network. I switched last June and I got an S4 with NE2 build. That build can be rooted. Cricket knows about their mistake with NE2 and updated the kernel and baseband to block the root exploits. As far as I know root cannot be obtained one the OA1 build, yet.

Aww, DAMMIT!!!! Well, thanks for solving the mystery for me. Once again, procrastination is my downfall. Well, at least I kept the old GS4 (SCH-R970C) that I had rooted. I use it as a webcam to keep an eye on my dogs while I'm at work. lol Well, I've learned a valuable lesson here, since I'm probably gonna want to root any phone get, get 'em while they're still a litlle weak. lol Thanks a lot.;)

Kingroot newest version works to root the i337z but your stuck with the kinguser app to control root privilege on another note does anyone know if this recovery works with the newest kernel

My Cricket S4 arrives today and I'm assuming it will be a Z with latest software, but there's no way I'm touching Kingroot/Kinguser. Seems really shady to me from what I've read at XDA. I'll wait for the official Lollipop update to roll out and hopefully there will be a more trust-worthy root method available later.

I ended up rooting with Kingroot 4.5 and working with the developer of Super-Sume to ensure we could remove Kingroot/Kinguser/Purify and still have root after rebooting.

If you haven't tried the combo recently, grab Kingroot 4.5 from XDA and then give Super-Sume a try. Your root should stick. It took the dev about 15 versions of Super-Sume to get this done (as mentioned above, our phones are a PITA) so if it works for you too, support the dev. He's great. If you don't want to use a custom/ROM/recovery, this will at least give you perma-root to remove bloat.

I feel somewhat bad about supporting the guy who removed the King crap instead of the guys who rooted the phone in the first place, but I can't support having their King crap installed on my phone.

Is there a link to this cm12 build? thanks in advance

Here are full instructions with links. I installed CM12 in about 10 minutes yesterday. Works great:

Only concern I have is we only have one version of a nightly CM12 build from June modified for my phone. I'm wondering if we'll ever get a snapshot/stable version. I preferred them over nightlies on my S3/CM11.

WARNING IF YOU INSTALL THIS YOU SET YOUR KNOX WARRANTY VOID FLAG TO 1

I am not responsible for any damage you do by trying to install this or by using it

THIS IS ONLY FOR THE AIO / CRICKET GALAXY S4 (jflteaio)

I put this in the ATT section, because there was no forum for Cricket and Cricket is owned by AT&T

I HAVE TESTED IT WITH MY PHONE WHICH IS ORIGINALLY FROM AIO AND IS RUNNING 4.4.2 (I337ZTUUBNE2)

I AM NOT SURE IF CRICKET IS NOW PUTTING OUT DIFFERENT MODELS OR NOT, SO MAKE SURE IT IS SGH-I337Z with a Z at the end

YOU MUST BE ROOTED TO INSTALLED THIS (I ROOTED WITH TOWEL ROOT)

Download
https://www.mediafire.com/?j6ml64w1ldixklq

You have to use adb or terminal

copy the download to you internal sd card

open terminal

su

dd if=/sdcard/jflteaio_twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery

Since this is new, there may be bugs, so if you find them report them

All Credit to team TeamWin / Dees_Troy since this recovery was ported from the ATT version of TWRP

.hK

Do you have a link to the Towel Root you used? THANKS...

The link is dead. Can you post the instructions here or provide a new link?

FWIW, here's the links for Kingroot and Super-Sume on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help/i337ztuuboa1-root-t3078686

I got a couple of Cricket branded i337z's for my wife and daughter that came with the OA1 kernel. I used Kingroot to root and installed the TWRP recovery from OP. Backed up the Cricket firmware and pulled the OA1 modules. I then flashed the phones to Fenny's stock T-mobile ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/convert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719, then flashed the OA1 modules to the phone. Everything works fine, but the phones show the Knox voided warranty Kernal flag on startup. I don't have this problem with my earlier vintage NE2 Kernal i337z. I suspect this is due to Kingroot not disabling Knox properly. When I installed Kingroot, it gave the option to disable Knox with a cancel and deny button. I clicked on Deny thinking they couldn't speak proper English. Does anyone else have this problem?

I tried to get rid of the Kernal flag by restoring the stock Cricket firmware. The Kenal warranty flag disappeared on startup. I then installing Super Sume to replace Kingroot with SuperSU. That went fine, but SuperSU never offered to disable Knox, making me think it was disabled. I flashed back to the TMO Rom and flashed the OA1 modules, but the Kernal Warranty flag is there again on startup. Not a big deal, but I would like to get rid of the flag if its possible. Any ideas?
