The j7 comes with built in flashlight app
I cant seem to find a way to create a home screen shortcut for it. Has anyone tried or been able to do it...

Yeah I couldn't either. I finally gave up and downloaded one from the store.

This trick has been around for a couple of year so I'm not sure if it still applies:

Tap and hold down on an empty space on your home screen then press Apps and widgets
Tap on the widgets tab and tap and hold again on the Assistive light widget to drag it it on to your phone’s home screen

All this widget will do is turn the LED on and off it doesn't have the fancy features that most flashlight apps have.
