i managed to root it but can't find out how to upgrade to the latest firmware

Hi and welcome to Android Forums!

This is my major issue with cheap, Chinese knock-off tablets: no support. NONE.

An upgraded operating system will depend on the manufacturer writing it and sending it out. And I can guarantee you, with almost 100% certainty, that this manufacturer will not do that. They are in the business of selling tablets, not supporting them.

And since it's an off-brand tablet, there is virtually ZERO developer support: meaning no custom recovery and no custom ROM to upgrade your tablet.

I strongly recommend that you un-root the tablet, since there is really nothing that root access can do that won't be trouble for you in the long run. ROOT gives you privileged access to the tablet's root system files: one mistake and you turn your tablet into an expensive paperweight with no chance of restoring it.

Going forward, I encourage you to save up for a name brand tablet like the Galaxy Tab or Note 10.1 from Samsung. There is a lot of support for those devices, and a great developer community. In the meantime, enjoy your tablet for the reasons you bought it. I hope this helps.

It's great to have you here! :)
