Hello everyone. I inherited my son's Samsung GT-S5830D when he upgraded. He replaced this phone because his battery swelled and it would barely hold a charge.
I thought I would give this phone to my mother as she would like to have a phone of her own. I bought a cheap (C$4.23) 2500 mAh replacement battery from eBay and the phone appears to work fine once I installed it.
While starting up my phone, I accidentally pushed the power and a volume button which caused the phone to start up in a mode other than normal. Not knowing what to do, I picked what I thought was the best option but it ended up putting the phone in a boot loop. It's been a few months since I did this so I thought I would once again try to repair this situation but the phone will not boot, no matter what.
I've been charging the phone but there is no indication that it is taking a charge as the screen remains black. As it has a cheap battery, I think I should first eliminate the possibility of a bad battery.
How do I test the battery to determine its voltage?
